Default AC or Fan Always on at Start Up

I've had my 991 Cs 2000 miles, for about 8 weeks, Prem Pkg (keyless entry) option, every time I start the engine from the car being locked the fan or air conditioning comes on depending on how either was left on. Always fan comes no matter what setting and if set to completely off before shut down. The keys have been set to off and also the settings on the door have always been set to off. I've taken it to the dealer they couldn't figure it out and tried several 991 models on the show room floor and all of them all came on with the air or fan even when we set the keys to off. So the dealer is saying this feature is hard-coded from manufacture (I think this is odd)!! This only happens when you have locked the car and are going back to it. Has anyone experienced this and or solved this issue, I find it very annoying, I prefer to have all my setting to off when I start up my car. My wife has a 2013 Cayenne and is able to set it to the off position no problem.

This will be in issue in colder climates as I can't imagine people would want the air to come in low temperature months!!

Thank you for you help.

I have a new 981 and it's the same. Don't think you can override it.

Don't you think it's odd that you can't set the air feature although it says you can in the manual and you can in the Cayenne.

Yes you should be able to set your default. My experience is from the 997.2 PCM3 and it works this way:

First turn AC off then go to PCM INFO > Individual Vehicle Settings and set to store AC Memory. Next Save AV memory state.

When you start your car it will wake up with AC off.

Note: Read your PCM manual for your specific details...

Followed all the steps in the manual, even took it to the dealer and they tried, no luck. They finally indicated that it's a hard code and can't be changed! I am not convinced.

Seems odd to me. Never had this issue in my '09 Carrera or '11 Cayenne but I don't suppose that means much since you have a 991. Does your wife's Cayenne have keyless entry? Maybe there's something specific to that feature that requires a different proceedure to lock in the memory.

Mike, I agree with you but can't figure it out, my wife does not have keyless entry/ start feature, i have a dummy key and keyless entry. The dealer thought the same thing and we took out the dummy key and we still couldn't get it to work. He tried it on several 991s in the showroom and all of them came on with the fan/air on start up after the car had been locked. It would seem strand that Porsche would hard code that feature for the 991, I can't see the reason for it. Must be a downer if you live in colder climates, not so much for me as I live in South California.

Same issue here with my 2012 991 without keyless entry- fan always on at lowest setting on startup. Has anyone found a solution?

I hate to rehash this issue, but I just bought my '14 C2S 2 days ago and my ONLY complaint is the fan being on all the time. I turned "Auto Memory" off. I turned the fan off. If I turn the car on and off without locking the car, the fan stays off. The second I lock and unlock the car, the climate control fan turns on. The manual isn't really helping. I'm sure it's something simple I'm missing. Any updates from anyone?

I've become accustomed to hitting that fan lever down one notch every time I start the car now. So annoying.

Well, my experience is that in life there's "annoying" - like my office got flooded on Christmas day - and then there's "I'm sitting in my wonderful 991 and the a/c fan is on".

Um.

I don't have this issue on my 2013 C4S. Early on, i set everything the way I wanted it (A/C off) before turning off the car, and i hit the "save to key" buttons on the door( one marked SET and the other marked KEY.) Now when I use that key to start the car, the settings are as I left them when i programmed the door buttons.

fyi, I do have Entry and Drive, not sure if that makes a difference.

This is the answer I believe. I set. both keys to different settings with climate control etc on/off and it's connected to which key I use.
