Popping off Turn Signal
How do we remove the orange turn signal on the 991? I have clear ones that just arrived and I can't remove the orange ones. Help!

There is a video with instructions on the Suncoast Porsche website.

Good video, by way of demonstration, but please, please don't be that careless with your screwdriver. The guy in the vid nearly scratched the car at least three different times. Yikes. That dude shouldn't be allowed near tools... :-)

I'm very careful with tools, but even then I put large amounts of painters tape all around the light so that if it popped out it wouldn't scratch anything. It's not as easy as it looks sometimes.

And it wasn't that easy to pop off as in video. Lol

My dealer installed mine for free prior to delivery.

Help please...
I've watched the video, but my lights don't seem to be so easily removed. Did all of you remove them just with hand pressure, or did you need to use a tool?
Thanks. |

Thanks for the replies. I'll try again by hand, and then get the nylon pry bars need be.

(For those catching this years later...)
Yes, it needs to be pushed to the rear enough to unhook the tab underneath the front, then the front will pull outward from the vehicle. I did this on a 991.2 just now, and hand pressure alone wasn't enough for me. Also, at least on my vehicle, the connecting wiring was WAY shorter, making it difficult to get to the tab to disconnect the wiring. |
That video does make it appear much easier than I've experienced! From personal experience, the effort required to remove the side marker lights varies. I've swapped on 4 different 991's and only once did I need to use a pry tool. Just be careful not to press too hard into the plastic lens as you could crack it. I've used a cloth that is "grippy" to help pull it back a bit easier. Also I would suggest that you cover the painted area just below the light in case you lose grip when it pops-out and hits the side dangling from the wire harness.... Don't ask me why I suggest this....! LOL

I found this video to be most helpful. After nudging the light slightly rearwards, the inwards pressure on the back of the light helpful to pop the front end outwards. Hope it helps:
