If you put your finger on the interior lights and hold, they get brighter.

Lewis- Im a NY Dr too and I dont object to banning smoking publically or any other Bloomberg "nanny" rules but many fear governemental control. I agree the cost of smoking is amortized over ALL of our healthcare premiums and I dont feel like paying for others self destructive behavior

I cant stand the auto stop/start and have disabled it really unnerving everytime it activates which can be annoying in traffic.

Blutooth integration of Iphone especially nice as you now even display pandora or Iheart radio song/artist titles on the PCM with the iPhone 4s

I cant see the spoiler up unless Im driving next to reflective windows- who can see it in their mirror?

The top edge of the spoiler appears in the back window through the rear view mirror when it is up- eg over 75 mph and can't tell when it goes down at 50 mph. I can see it go up additionally when I raise the sunroof, too.

I will admit that it is probably stupid to peer into the center mirror every time I am approaching 75 or go below 50 to try to catch it in motion, but...
It will be harder to get a vid made, but...

Can anyone confirm if the manual transmission allows you to shift, say, from 5th to 2nd gear? Or does it force you to go down through each gear?

You can skip gears up or down. Just can't get to 7 unless you're coming from 5 or 6.

Why do some have the impression after driving it that the manual feels different, somehow fake?

Even if I smoked, there isn't a chance that I would be lighting up in my 991.

I don't know as the MT in my 991 is the sweetest shifting tranny I have ever operated.

The parking brake will automatically disengage when you drive off, if and only if you have your seatbelt buckled and the car is in gear. Otherwise, it will chime and warn you to disengage it manually before you drive off.

Guess they couldn't see you coming with that color that blends in to everything so well.

It's nothing special about the 991 but another RL'er posted a cool tip that I use everyday (sorry I can't remember who to give credit). He programmed button 3 on the seat memory to have the seat all the way back for getting in and out of the car. Then I hit 2 which is in memory for my driving position. Makes getting in and out a lot easier for me. Great thread. Almost as good as the back seat thread, Riley!

There is a "comfort exit" option you may select that does the same thing when you open the door
