Default 991 & Brused Knees

It appears that the 991 door panel comes into the cabin by 3" more than the 997.
That would explain the bruised knees that participants at PSDS experienced!

I was thinking about that while driving my 996 today. I have to spread my legs like a $50 hooker just to get my leg to come in contact with the door panel. And I can't do that and have my foot in contact with either the clutch or dead pedal.

I think this may be more of an issue for taller folks. Although, I haven't tracked mine yet, I cannot see my leg rubbing there. I'm 5" 6 3/4.

Thanks for posting, I will forward this to the R&D department in Germany ASAP.

After 11-12 meetings, I am sure that for the 991 GT3, they can develope and fit an electric motor that would retract the speaker inside the panel. : )

I hadn't noticed this knee-speaker ergonomics issue, but I'm interested in motorized speakers ... maybe Bang and Olufsen can make something with shiny flying saucer lids and feedback microphones to continuously change the amplification to create a perfect stereo sound stage. Perhaps lowering the steering wheel to get it out of the way of the sound?

The tech already exists in-house with the A8's B&O dash speakers. I think they could cut it down to just a couple of meetings.....

Oh my the madness, I've bruised my knee driving my new Porsche! Quick Pookey, sell it and let's get that Aston Martin. Or at least a 997 that was so much more soft and comfortable.

Shouldn't bitches be wearing knee pads anyways? lol

Spent plenty of time on track in the 991 and have never bruised a knee on the door panel handle and I'm larger than 95% of the population on the planet.

I was so excited being at PSDS with P-car lovers that I did not realize my left knee was getting an abrasion. Only drove the 991 on Barber track the second day. First day 997 6 speed and cayman R.
Why would GT-3 have speakers anyway?

And I was wearing shorts because of mid 70 temps and never have on the track because I am from gloomy Seattle.

Since I don't use the stereo on track maybe a simple padded cover for the speakers. Maybe a new product from "Bumper" plugs?

Doors panels come in a bit, but doors themselves are out a bit wider with new front track, partially offsetting the panel, I think?
