Beautiful car and color. Thanks for the update on the manual and the adaptive seats.

According to the 991 Service information manual, "The transmission is essentially derived from the PDK with the gear ratio of the 3rd and 7th gears adapted to take account of the manual gear changes. The 3rd gear has a higher ratio which reduces consumption. The 7th gear has a lower ratio to maintain the tractive force even at comparatively low speeds."

Here are the actual numbers.

1st 11/43 3.909
2nd 24/55 2.292
3rd 29/45 1.552
4th 33/43 1.303
5th 37/40 1.081
6th 42/37 0.801
7th 45/32 0.711
rev 11/39 3.545

6th 42/37 0.801
7th 45/32 0.711
rev 11/39 3.545
Cool. For comparison here are the 997.2 ratios for the 6sp and PDK respectively:

1st 3.91 3.91
2nd 2.32 2.29
3rd 1.56 1.65
4th 1.28 1.30
5th 1.08 1.08
6th 0.88 0.88
7th ..... 0.62
REV 3.59 3.55

Very close across the board especially in the first 6 gears between the 6sp and 7sp MT's. Interesting that 6th in the MT 991 is a little taller than in the MT 997.2. More power allows the 991 to pull top speed with a little less gear. People sometimes think that selecting gear ratios is easy and they can be changed *****-nilly but it actually has to be done very precisely to take advantage of the engine's powerband and achieve proper performance under all conditions.

Great color, that's the aqua right? I was thinking of the dark blue but that looks hot.

I'm a MT guy, but with all the reports of the PDK converting over even the most crusty MT diehards, I am approaching the PDK with an open mind. Hope to drive my first PDK tomorrow; did you drive the PDK before choosing the MT?

Yes, this is aqua blue. Interior is awesome. Here's one photo of the interior before dealer prep. It's been rainy here today, but should be decent this weekend. I'll get it cleaned up and post a few more pictures in a couple of days.

Your car is a beauty. Having had a blue MR2 Turbo, an electric blue MINI Cooper S, and now a True Blue MINI Cooper S Countryman, you could say I'm a fan of that color.

Also a big fan of Carousel, as I grew up in Golden Valley. You know what could make your car even better?

If the Minnesota legislature goes its collective *** in gear and gave the Vikings the stadium they want, and the stadium the state NEEDS.

I have the Manual and the car feels like it could do with just gears 1 through 6 ... gear 6 feels like it did in my 997.1 did (an overdrive) ... 7th brings the rpm's down even lower than 6th.

So in other words the lower gears feel very similar to the 6 speeds and it doesn't feel like you need to shift more ....

That color looks great ... Congrats !!!

THe one thing I am not nuts about is the emergency brake ... When releasing it, it is a PIA to have to put my foot on the brake first plus I think the placement could have been better like where Audi put's it's brake (on the center console)

Lately though I have been using the Auto brake release which I finally discovered how to use properly.

Bravo. And I'm digging you went manual. I'm convinced, manual is the way to go.
