Default New Sunroof Glass Option

Anyone have any info on this glass sliding and tilting sunroof option? If it's basically the same as the current one but with glass that seems like a no-brainer choice for sure! Assuming it has some sun shade thing you can use too.

Per the German order guide
Option: 653
Availability: June 2012
The non-glass areas of the roof will be in Black Aluminum. The glass sliding roof will have a "roller" sun shade (if I understood the German description correctly). The price should be ~30% above the metal sliding roof.

Nice, so the roof will look black from the exterior? That would look pretty cool in white!

I wonder how much more this will weigh than the standard sunroof? Agree that it would look cool to contrast a light color like white or yellow.

Here's a screen shot from the German configurator - I think it'd look good with a white or maybe silver exterior (I just used red with a beige interior to highlight what's different about the glass sunroof).

I'm not a fan of the sunroof, but this certainly is an improvement.

So the opening is the same size as the steel sunroof? Looks like it.

Wow. That looks fantastic. If I had traded in my 997 Targa for a metal sunroof 991 and this came out a month later, I would really have been annoyed. Glad I never made that trade.

The 993/996/997 style Targa roof may be gone now.

It's not a true "panoramic" roof, just painted black with the sliding section in glass. Definitely not a targa replacement, perhaps a "targa look"?
I decided not to order the sliding roof contraption, and I'm not convinced this configuration improves it much...I will miss not having a sunroof however...maybe Porsche could have kept the old one as a n/c option (yea, right)!

To me this is not very different than the "Targa look" 993/6/7. I never felt that my 997 Targa was anything but a glass sunroof. The parts over the doors need to not be there for it to be a true Targa IMO.

I think the fact that Porsche named this "Electric glass slide/tilt sunroof" instead of Targa may mean that the rumours of a lift-out panel Targa return may be true.
