Looks like a "Panayman" but i like it!

DreamCarrera 07-01-2011 06:39 PM

I refuse to read this.

I don't want the first review that I read about the 991 to come from Top Gear. I'll wait until a less biased source reviews the car.

What, like one from PBS and boring ol' Motorweek? LOL.

I know what you mean. Jeremy Clark hates the 911. I don't expect the review to be favorable.

At least it will be entertaining, have some great video shots, and probably make me laugh. That's what I expect from Top Gear, and they deliver almost every time. Consumer Reports, they're not.

Edit: Now that I think about it, Consumer Reports is not the best example. They're far too rational in their reviews to make them good for stuff I'm passionate about like sports cars, and occasionally they get too "green". Useful data though.

Happy to see the pumpkins

Puts on flame suit....

Awesome to hear about a 3.4L with more output and better economy. Can't argue with that.

Not to spoil the review, but it is not written by Clarkson.

The headlights have a 993 vibe; otherwise, it does look like a bigger fatter Cayman (or Gayman, as Clarkson calls it). Also, I don't like the butt - reminds me of the new Camaro for some reason (which I don't like) too much. I don't think Butzi would like it, either.

I still like the 997 and 996 a lot more. I think the main positive point of the 991 is that the prices on the 996 and 997 generations will fall as status-conscious Americans dump their old models to lease themselves a new 991. The shopping will be good in Phoenix when we go down in September - me, I would like a late model 997 PDK C4S (I'm keeping my 996 too).

All this, and you still can't carry a golf or hockey bag...

I'll have to see it without all the padding and stickers, but it looks bigger than a 911 should. Almost like they are trying to make usable rear seats. That will never do.

Im sure it will be a great performer, but I would hate to see it lose anymore of the 911 character.

Very interesting point...

Hmmmm, 991 Carrera S @400hp vs 996 Gt3?

Awesomo996 07-02-2011 02:27 PM

I'd rather read a review written by a harsh critic than a 'yes' man like Hammond who will undoubtably gush over the new style.

Over the years I have seen a couple of episodes where Clarkson has given grudgingly positive reviews of 'Hitler' cars.

" the new manual is a version of the current three-shaft PDK box, and this has its driveshaft flanges further back than the old manual. Obviously in converting the PDK to a manual, they won’t have blocked off any of its seven speeds. " ---And here I am still learning to count to six.

911 is getting middle aged... old and fat..

I'm sure it will be an excellent car but further from what "enthusiast" think the 911 should be.

Thats my not so humble opinion.
