Between the 2, the 991.2 GTS will serve you for longer, is more challenging to drive at 9/10ths (if thats your thing), tons more usable power on tap ( and more available with tune)

Cayman is more practical (luggage capacity) , is N/A (the BEST), has better handling that can be utilized by higher number of above average drivers, is newer .. but like many of us, you may end up having 911 envy and would always wonder if you should have gotten a 911

An N/A sports car these days is truly a dying breed, so the GTS may hold it value ( very good chance) Vs the .2 GTS

It may seem like a hard decision, but once you write down your top 3 needs/use cases for this investment into a sports car, one will surely rise to the top.

I have both a cayman and a 911, I prefer my cayman if I want to hit the twists as hard as I can ( within reason), and I pick the 911 when I want a spirited drive but also want to take in the scenery, enjoy the sunroof, night out with wife etc

All of this probably doesn't help much, good luck with your decision and either way you will be happy

P.S Make sure to protect your car with a Fidelity warranty so you can actually enjoy it without worrying about repairs and issues

We don't have those where I live what we do here is a yearly renewal of warranty at the porsche dealer for up to 10 years or 200k kms

I am curious about this - what do you mean by serve you for longer?

Get the 991, A simple tune and you will be close to 500HP. My 2017 4s was a great car and there is so much help here to get you through simple maintenance items.

Some other things to consider:
911s usually hold better value over time
The 718GTS can be tuned easily to 440ish HP Stage 1
The 911GTS can be tuned easily to 530ish HP Stage 1
The 718GTS has a lovely redline but painfully long gears
A 718GTS performs somewhat between a base and a 911S but is slower in acceleration than an S and I am pretty sure takes more distance to stop than a 911
