I can't wait to read your first post after purchase when you drive it home...... or better yet take it on some back roads.
Enjoy the hunt for the perfect car.

Welcome! In Porsches you will notice a little lever sprouting from the left side of the steering column. If one moves it up, lights blink on the right side (outside) of the car. Down and they blink on the left side of the car. These are used to signal other drivers of your intentions. You will learn to love them!😁😁😁

Welcome to the forum from another BMW owner (E90, E92///M, F07). Regardless of which 911 you settle on, a Bimmer of any variety will complement it nicely. Looking forward to seeing the pictures.

Welcome aboard. You will love Porsche with the much higher limits and brand cache. The track experience is also substantially different unless you drove a full dialed up M. Still love daily driving my M2 comp.

16 years with BMW here. Had an E53 (groundbreaking), an E60 (amazing car, love of my life) and an F10 (huge disappointment). Now I have the Chevy Tahoe/Porsche 911 tandem I always wanted.
No real interest in BMWs any more, they are trying to market them too broadly and they don’t distinguish in any particular way. But here is my beloved E60. These were a bit unpopular because of the tail design language, but mine was a cruise missile and I traded it way too soon. ‘05 model. I loved this car.

5-series is a great daily sedan. We've leased one for my wife since 2007 on 2 or 3 year leases. The current 530e is a great road car and hybrid for daily errands. Your E60 appears to be Jet Black? The right color for these cars. Not as forgiving as sapphire black metallic.

Congrats on the impending arrival. If it is a "Turbo", some of the below might or might not apply, I just own a poverty spec C2, so take it with a grain of salt. But after owning a 981S (used) and my '17 991.2 (CPO) since 2019, here's what I would look for in a new 991.x:
Water or coolant leaks at the rear. The early ('17) 991.2s seem to have had a spate of water pump replacements, but it occurs through the run. I believe there is a new part no. that the dealer can fit.
Door panel warping. There's a consistent theme in the breakdown of the glue which held the door panels on, consequently they warp under heat and detach. Mostly this is unsightly, but expensive to fix out of warranty. There are some aftermarket solutions I've seen. I'm reading "full leather" does not have this issue.
Sunroof and fabric shade - I would cycle both of these (if car has a sunroof) at the dealer, to make sure there are no expensive noises opening and closing.
Same for windows, up and down a few times, to make sure all is ok.
Battery on a 991.2 may be fine, or in my case (2016 date code) might be going on 5 years old. Depending on conditions (heat, use) it might be due for replacement (easy DIY, budget $250 for a new AGM over the counter from e.g. Batteries Plus)
I'm not going to tell you how to buy a car, obviously you've had experience doing that. A good PPI and (if a manual) a DME report is a good idea on a P-car, though.
Couple other hopefully useful remarks:
Is there an online shop manual for the car? I've not located one like say a Bentley manual I used to use for my E46. The closest (and actually pretty interesting) is this pdf posted here by a member with a detailed overview of all the changes introduced in the model year Generation II 991:

Is there a parts manual for the 991.2?
Member whiteducktail posted a thread with a link to a parts manual, here:

Is there a good thread on Rennlist for a DIY Oil and Filter Change?
I recently did the oil and filter myself on my 991.2 using this great thread by member bkrantz :

Thread includes extremely useful pictures and a step by step description.
If you can think of any other questions, fire away. There are no dumb questions. The folks here on Rennlist know a lot about these cars, and I've found there's no question that somebody can't answer. I'm not a track guy, for sure, so I can't help there. I'm also one of the many who've come to Porsche after a series of BMWs (I think I owned 8. I've been a member of bimmerfest since it was started.). Last one was my DINAN-tuned E92 M3 in Melbourne; man I loved that car. Did the Dragon with it when I lived in Atlanta; much fun.

I agree. The M2CS is very similar in power and balance of a race built E46. Grabbed one and put it in the garage. I'm partial to BMW's in black and as it turns out only around 17 of them in Black in the US? This one has the DCT which I wouldn't have considered prior to owning the RS with the PDK. Certainly not near the refinement and precision of the PDK but light years ahead of the SMG! BMW checked all the boxes with this one.

2011 Active Autowerke supercharged manual m3 as daily here. Also have a 2016 911 manual targa and a 2007 4.1 stroker gt3 as track car...
