Worlds First Supercharged 991.1!!!

(Edit June 2020: please scroll down for updated dyno/power figures and acceleration data, 490whp Stg1 and 7.06sec 100-200kph)

Hi Everyone,

Wanted to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves to forum members, tell you a little about RR Racing Motorsports Engineering (we are located near Philadelphia, PA) and our latest creation, the supercharged "911RR"

First off, a little about RR Racing .... For a number of years we have specialized in Lexus Performance. Over the past 5 years in particular, we have put Lexus performance on the map, developing all our own tuning, forced induction, and chassis/suspension packages in house. We pride ourselves on our customer service, and the relentless track testing we do to test and prove the durability of our products. Please check out our "RR Racing" Youtube page for videos and our Facebook page for MANY unsolicited customer reviews!

Over a year ago, we purchased a beautiful Agate Grey 2012 Carrera S, with 54,000 miles on the clock, realizing that the aftermarket for the NA 991's was somewhat limited, and soon embarked on a quest for more POWER! So after a year of testing our new 991 Supercharger (as far as we know, the worlds first supercharger kit for the 991 platform), we are finally ready and excited to introduce the kit to you all.

Here's a short video intro:

Here's a pic of the Supercharger kit as well as dyno results for our Stage 1 kit that we are releasing today. We have lots more details on our website @ www.RR-Racing.com. Bottom line is that we didn't spare any expense in building this kit, everything was designed with maximum performance and durability in mind:

And because dyno numbers alone are never the end-all metric for "real world" performance, the graph below shows the 100-200kph acceleration of our Stage ! setup. We like this metric especially because it reflects accurately on most real world street and track situations where you may be exiting a corner at around 50-60mph with full-on acceleration onto a straightaway:

I'll gladly answer any technical questions anyone may have, and thank everyone in advance for their support!

-Rafi

Hot damn! The way you guys handle the drive system is trick. From prior experience, you guys definitely used top quality components.

RR-Racing, how reversible is this kit? Does any part of the car need to be permanently modified?

What other supporting mods are required? Headers? Exhaust etc? Also do you see any issues with a manual car?

kingerm 02-07-2020 02:28 PM

Very interesting! How long has testing been done? I ask about the engine health in particular. Motor is still stock?

What wheels are on that car (in the youtube vid)?

"After purchasing our own 54,000 mile shop 2012 Carrera S, and completing nearly a year of development including 7000 miles of street testing, several hundred dyno runs on our in-house AWD DynoJet, and 4 track days, we are ready to introduce the most significant performance upgrade for the 991.1. Carrera platform"

At Stage 1 power levels, stock exhaust is fine, we saw no benefit to installing a more free-flow version. Most of our development was done on a stock exhaust with side muffler delete.

We also used stock manifolds throughout most of our development, but eventually removed the cats, as stock cats aren't going to hold up to the sustained heat of abuse on the track. Currently we use headers, but it does not affect power, mainly because improved scavenging doesn't really benefit a supercharged setup. Having said that, we LOVED the switch to Soul Performance headers as the sound is absolutely intoxicating!

The only recommended modification to the car is we cut a rectangular cutout behind the license plate, as this acts as an opening for cooler air to enter the air filter. You can't see it with the license plate installed, but you can see it in our video (with plate removed). Otherwise, there is no modification of the chassis and everything is 100% reversible.

Actually manual car makes tuning these cars much easier. Our car is a PDK, so a lot of the development went into managing torque related maps. Since this kit is more about top end power and not as much low end torque (like you would get from small turbos), the OE 991 clutch will still be well within its capacity.

We use BC Forged RZ05 Monoblocs. If you are interested, don't hesitate to message us, we'd be happy to shoot you a quote.

You read my mind. Its a safe bet that X51 cams are going to give some nice gains above 6000, without any boost increase.

Interest definitely piqued..... eyebrow raised and a grin. I'm also 991.1S manual. Joe if you do this, holla bro, I would like to see it locally. I'm just terrified of Ol' Kalifornia smog and policing/testing. Thread has def been subbed.

It will be interesting what the 991.1 manual could do with Full Soul Sport Headers/Cats with full exhaust, Dundon intake Runners, tune.....wonder how much fun this car would be and the glorious sounds it would make...Interest definitely piqued.

Awesome-I have seen the work you guys do on the is-F and its amazing! What is the cost for the kit and which type of belt do you use (how many ribs, gates HD, etc)?

The sound is amazing for sure. Its basically the best of the naturally aspirated scream you get with headers/exhaust, coupled with the big woosh when you let off throttle, and the sublte whining sound you hear at idle telling you that there is something there, that's not normally there:)

Thank you, the ISF was our first major supercharger kit we put out, and we are making up to 700whp these days on those engines.

I don't think we are allowed to discuss costs on this forum, so please refer to our website, www.RR-Racing.com. We use a 6 rib Gates Racing Belt. It costs like 3 times more than any other belt, but they are the best. Because we used a dedicated drive system for the supercharger, the belt only has to drive the SC unit. Additionally, we use our own billet tensioner which maintains much higher belt tension than an OEM belt tension on the accessory drive. Here's a pic of that billet tensioner, and the new crank pulley/ATi damper:
