GT2RSx Version 3....

https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...674938651.jpeg

991.2 997 Style GT2RS seats.
Just wanted to share. Mike Levitas and Tom Chan from TPC have been really helpful.

I have been planning a GT2RSx conversion similar to what Mike has done to his Turbo car which he transformed into the Optima race car or the Evil Twin...

My conversion will be a bit of both.

Here is how my conversion started...

First component that went on the car: 991 (997 GT2RS Style seats)... Why these seats and not the new GT3RS/GT2RS seats? Primarily because they fold. I have young kids who enjoy riding in the car and I really did not want to put seats in the car that would require a contortionist to be able to get into the backseat.

Also these are OEM and the centers can be easily ordered in Alcantara or any finish I like.

These things are a beauty. They are very light, very rigid and very comfortable. Which for me is really important since I have to deal with lower back pain.

Most of the larger parts for my conversion have arrived, front bumper cover, hood, fenders, louvers, rear engine cover, wing and supports.

All of the intercooler intakes and components have also arrived.

Waiting for a bunch of miscellaneous parts to move the project along.

Probably what will be changed on the car next are the hood and the mirrors (simply because those are small and simple projects (in the case of the hood all I am having done is having the Porsche sticker installed and the hood clear coated). The only part of the mirrors that need to be painted are the lower components since the uppers are carbon.

For anyone who wants to discuss, at this point I can outline all of the body/underbody, suspension and performance upgrades that the car will go through.

The goals for the car are:

1) Hopefully to shed as much as 200 lbs of weight from the car (carbon body parts, seats, exhaust, battery, wheels, etc)
2) Widen the track of the car and increase both frontal downforce as well as rear downforce.
3)Hopefully to get the car pushing between 700 and 800 WHP so that it is as fast as a well tuned GT2RS.

In my next post I will discuss some of the selections I have made for suspension components and why...

I will also over time discuss where I am going to go different than stock and why. This is the beginning of my journey. It is looking like a lot of fun to see this project get off the ground.

If you have any questions please reach out. This has been an extensive research report.

Love those seats and was thinking about getting them myself. What seats did you have originally in the car and did you have to do anything re: the weight sensor in the passenger seat or any mods needed if you had heating / cooling previously?

Looking forward to your build. I hope it turns out just as you envision it.

My 2017 991.2 Turbo S had 18 way seats with heating & cooling. Obviously those things created error codes once the new seats were installed. Nothing that a little programming would not fix.

Really not that big of a deal.

Let us know when you are ready to choose your Lithium Battery. We have some cool options offering a drop in fit and also Wireless Built in Jump Starting. We offer the H6 Size Battery ( fits all 991 and 992s and most other years) from 12.5 lbs to 16 lbs depending on the Amp Hours you select.

Here's a vid of what our Battery does...aside from saving massive weight...
