Front trunk clips & disassembly
Hi,
Does anybody have a good video of the part #s and how to remove the plastic panels in the frunk of 991.1 C4? Some of the clips are broken on mine and didn't want to break even more trying to pull them apart. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...96ff473284.png Thanks, Chris |
I had this same issue and fixed it while I had the bumper off to fix my blank center panel near the license plate. Previous dealer tech must have taken them off and put them back poorly. They fit together sort of like a puzzle, with tabs between the plastic pieces and clips holding each piece to the body. If you fit them back wrong the plastic pokes out in the way you describe. I'll try to find the video I used to help, but you basically just yank on the rubber gasket at the front of the opening to free it all up and then just start pulling (gently!). The clips will come free and the pieces will come off. Putting them back together was a bit of a trial and error deal to make sure it was all flush.
It all happens in the first minute of this video: Also in the first few minutes of this video: Good luck! |
Thank you! I will have to pull that entire top part off ... the female portion (notch) of the part that goes into the "nail head" on the chassis is not attached anymore to the top part. I am hoping it can be super-glued or Gorilla glued back to the top plastic piece and then I can slide it back so it pulls the top part down into the chassis

You may have to purchase a new plastic side piece... Find the part number while you have it apart and do a Google search for it. Shouldn't be more than a few thousand dollars! ;) |

Yes. Mine was still intact, but making sure that notch slid under the "nail head" while also getting the end of the piece to fit properly into to the tab of the adjacent piece was the biggest PIA of the whole effort.
