Default Cab Window Gasket Degradation

Looking at a used 2018 Cab S. The rubber gaskets around the driver and passenger doors are discolored and cracked. Mechanic suggests that this is a result of sun damage. Since the vehicle only has 6,000 miles and is a little over a year old , this seems unusual to me. Can this be restored without replacing gaskets? If not, any estimate as to the replacement costs.

Based on your description it does not sound like repair is possible but as usual, pics of such things are a big help. Is it at a Porsche dealer? If so I would push for replacement under warranty. Otherwise, I did a quick Google search and came up with the following: https://www.oemluxuryparts.com/oem-p...yABEgKsxPD_BwE

I have an ‘18 Cab and my door weatherstrips are perfect. I personally wouldn’t buy a car that new with a problem like that. As Bob asked, is it at a Pcar dealership? Regardless, make them replace them.

My cab is a 2013, has 40k miles, and has been in the South its whole life. My seals are not that way. It is garaged and I do treat them but still.

Definitely something that should be covered under warranty. Is the car not still under warranty where you are?

Sun damage sounds unlikely. Maybe some type of chemical damage? Any other signs?

No other visible damage. The Porsche mechanic who looked at it described it as sun damage.

It amazes me when people ask a question and you never hear from them again.

Given my prior response, I don't understand the comments about not responding. The vehicle is not at a Porsche dealer. It is offered for sale by a BMW dealer. I have attempted to contact several Porsche dealers about the problem and so far no one has responded.

We must have been typing at the same time. Sorry if I offended.

So if you like it, buy it and then take it in for service. It will be fixed under warranty unless it's no longer under warranty where you are. Not sure what part of the world you're checking in from.

Regardless, it is NOT normal, and given the age of the car, I doubt it's sun damage.
