New 991.2 still in port?
I was hoping for a little insight from anyone that's had recent experience with their new car moving through Jacksonville... Does it seem at all odd that my 991.2 got it's 'tires on the ground' on June 1, and it's apparently still showing 'PDI IN' on June 13? My SA is out of pocket, and I'm being helped by the sales manager (all via email), and I'm trying not to sound panicked. Thanks in advance for any feedback!

FWIW, I have a friend who worked at the local car port out here,, they had to detail a lot of cars if something goofy happened like one time they unloaded a whole ship, and that night a storm blew through and covered all the cars with pollen out of our local trees and rained on it.. took them a month and a half to process all the cars to get them clean (400 or so) and they brought a lot of extra labor in to work on it.. Its not always "bad" just annoying

My previous Porsches were in and out of the port within 48 hours. The only exception was my Carrera T that took 10 days. The explanation: "Porsche requires all GT3's AND Carrera T's to be delivered from the port on an enclosed transport". I didn't believe my SA at first, until he showed me the memo from Porsche to the Port Operations. Why? I have no idea. It took 10 days to get the enclosed transport to move my car 15 miles to the dealer, while everyday a couple of open auto-carriers delivered other models. What model is your 911?

My Targa GTS came from Jacksonville to Tampa via enclosed carrier, and it arrived 3 days after arriving in port, which I understood to mean that nothing needed to be corrected. It could be in port for a variety of reasons but usually if for that long they are correcting something.

Before you panic I had heard that sometimes the cars have to wait as they need to get inspected by the epa and sometimes there is a delay. Not sure if that’s true but hopefully that is the reason.

My car hit Jax on a late Saturday afternoon, and was cleared for pickup on the following Monday. I don't recall how long the delay was, but it wasn't picked up immediately. My dealer has all their cars transported in closed trailers, and it took a few extra days to get delivered. It could easily be just waiting for a truck to pick it up.

Thanks all. Waiting on a GTS Coupe; boat arrived late May 31 and was offloaded and out to sea the following afternoon. I'm north of Atlanta, and my SA indicated previously it was almost always a quick trip from JAX.
Well, he's back in the office Monday and we'll see what he has to say. First World problems...right?
Thanks again for the feedback!

If there is damage in transport or in the port and repairs are needed, I assume the dealership can get this information? Is the expectation that no matter what happened that the repairs are completed satisfactorily and that the customer is obligated to take the car?

I will certainly be exploring this; I'm disinclined to accept a repaired car (but as I type this, I wonder how many times I might have in buying a car off the lot...) Thanks for your thoughts.

Last year I ordered a C43 AMG Mercedes. It arrived in port in July. By September it was still in port. Mercedes hadn’t had epa certify the 2019 model and I was being told after the first of the year.
Frustrated I bought a base 911 coupe and have never looked back.
