I leave it on Auto, I let the car do a lot of the thinking for me.

On the 991.2s, it helps with IATs.

I keep mine on auto but would rather prefer a Duck wing or Techart type 2 wing.

If it were meant to be up all the time Porsche would have made it that way and they didn't so mine stays on auto, and it looks better to me down, especially on the Targa.

Lol. You know how you can figure out if someone is a fighter pilot?
You don’t have to because they will always tell you.

Been flying jets for 23 years myself. This isn’t a jet. In automobile terms this is a spoiler. The GT cars have wings.

Or you could be "flying rubber dog sh** outta Hong Kong". And there's nothing wrong with that.
To the OP: Some 911 owners think you're a poser if you drive around with the spoiler up but who cares? It's your car. The real posers are Tesla drivers who drive around with them up. Teslas are quick cars, especially the S model in ludicrous mode but I just don't find them sexy or sporty, IMHO. Now the Roadster...then we are talking! In my individual setting, I have it set to where the spoiler is up but 90% of the time, I drive around with it in auto.

Maybe no shame, but it does look foolish.

Me too. Just something so elegant about the car changing aerodynamics in response to speed. Usually fully deployed by the time I'm merged onto the parkway- assuming the CRVs get out of the way.

It's been pointed out on a similar thread that leaving it up when parked exposes your oil and coolant caps. Someone could reach in there and screw with it. Small chance, but a risk.

The flow under the surface to the rear edge of the spoiler is blocked- check it out from the back with spoiler in the up position. Porsche's aero diagrams show the spoiler extending the airflow back from rear of the car- over the top of the spoiler surface. Very unlike the GT and Turbo wings.

PS If keeping it up is your thing- no harm, enjoy.

Check out this thread for what some of us are putting behind their spoilers: https://rennlist.com/forums/991/1142...om-decals.html

An open sunroof changes the aero on the car so the spoiler compensates by increasing its angle.
