Nice, I’ve had the pleasure of doing a fair bit of Autobahn driving at the upper limits and it’s totally enjoyable. As in the video, German drivers always move to the right after a pass regardless of speed. It’s too bad we don’t get that kind of lane discipline.

Very cool video. So fun to wring out a capable car on the autobahn.

They should show this video at schools and teach kids about lane discipline.

Other than in sections with heavy traffic, I never experienced sitting behind someone in the left lane who would not move over. Contrast that to here in CA where drivers routinely drive in the left lane oblivious to a stream of cars piling up behind them (odds are pretty good it will be a Prius doing the speed limit)

I have a feeling that the majority of drivers in North America don't have a clue which lane is intended for driving vs passing on the highway. Likewise, you'd never see anybody pass somebody on the right on the Autobahn you'd be shamed by other drivers beyond words!

Yes, we could make due with fewer lanes here if drivers were actually schooled on how to use them.

This would make more sense to me in an environment not limited by speed. First, we are not leaving an open "passing lane" on a Chicago tollway ever and why do people traveling well in excess of the speed limit expect you to move out of their way...I've never understood.

In California it is the law. A driver in the #1 lane moving at the speed limit, or above, could be cited for obstructing traffic and creating a hazard if faster cars are backing up behind him/her, even if those faster cars are speeding. Even here in the super congested Bay Area I can travel on i280 when the flow of traffic is moving at 80 mph and some ******* will be sitting in the left lane doing 70.

In Germany many sections of the Autobahn are congested and drivers will use the left lane moving at the flow of traffic. It is the open sections where left lane drivers who do not pull over are shamed.

Same in Florida where one can be ticketed for being a left lane loser. I don't expect the left lane to be empty but when more cars are traveling in the far left lane at or just below/above the speed limit than lanes to the right they need to MOVE OVER - not too hard to understand.
