Default Michelin rear tire average mileage

Hey all,

I went through my rear tires pretty quickly. 10,300 miles and they’re done. Is this pretty usual? Are there alternative tires that last longer? Thanks!

Bad alignment. Since your wear bars look good.

I am lucky to get 500 miles on a set or SC2's at the track!

Lots of variables but 15K is a good average for the rears. Although the fronts last longer, I always replace all four tires. Four new tires, speed balancing, and a good alignment, and you feel like you are driving a new car.

Sears Roebuck RoadMaster tires have excellent tread life.

The negative rear camber on these cars, particularly the T and gts, destroy the inner parts of the tires. My stock camber in the rear was almost -2 from the factory. Im thinking about going to -1.2 but the rear axle steering makes it a big project.

What tire pressure have you been running?

Yes you’re right. Dealer told me today that alignment was off and probably could have gotten another 2000mi additional.

Exact tire pressures front/rear? Comfort/partial load can be varied.

And Porsche will do a free alignment in the first year of ownership to those that apply and feel theirs may be off.

I dont expect to make it a year on any performance tire on any performance car. I think I am doing good when I make it 7k miles with a couple track weekends mixed in. I would imagine if I didnt track at all I could make it 10k. With my current set, I hope to make it 3 track events and 5k street miles. I just plan on buying tires and dont worry about it. I like getting new tires, makes me feel all cleaned up and ready for more fun.

I used to get 12-15 maybe out of the rears. P Zeros or PS2's.

I did alignment and camber a few times in the rear. That's exactly how mine wore. Threads coming through on the inner edge. It's the nature of the 991 Carreras.

We call those "May Pops". Lol.

I'm hoping for 12-15k from the rears. On older Porsche TT cars I was lucky to get 8-10k on the rears.
I'm at about 8k on my MPS4S and still looking good.
