Front bumper scoops
In searching for grills for the front bumpers I noticed two types of scoops. One with two fins and the other with none. My car has the fins and I think it looks much better without. Can anyone tell me why they’re different and can the fins be removed? I’ll likely install the Zunsport inserts but would like to remove the fins if possible. Attached are pics of both(on here one RL)

The first one is a 991.2, the second one is a 991.1.
The 991.2 actually has fins like this: https://st.motortrend.com/uploads/si...5902571690.jpg Someone added aftermarket grill screens to the one in your first photo. |
if it's the front lip that you don't like on the sport bumper, I'll gladly take it off your hands. My sportdesign front lip is taking a beating :roflmao:

I’m actually referring to the 2 fins that are in the scoops. I just bought an 18 GTS and still waiting for it to arrive but looking st pictures I see some without the fins which I like much more. I know the ones in the pics I attached have screens installed. Just wondering if the scoops can be removed. Are they fixed or do they serve a purpose. Here’s a pic of my car from the dealership.

I don't think the single bar (on each side) is easily removable. I recommend (and have installed on my GTS) the Zunsport grills that fit on the outside of the bar. There's another brand (?) that is installed behind the bar but requires the removal of the bumper to install. BTW, multiple bars are movable (open/close) for aerodynamic reasons. They were not supplied on GTS model cars.

Never mind I found the ones I need. Thanks!

Like the OP, I have an 18 GTS w/PDK and got the zunsport. Only intstalled the outer and center(cosmetic). The mid ones are still sitting in the garage (I like the look without them and it allows me to easily reach into the grill area). It took me longer to unpack them, than it did to install. I'm very happy with them and I think you will be also.

Received and installed the Zunsport grills. Very happy with them. I’m having the hood and bumper painted in a couple weeks so will have the shop spray the radiators black while the bumper is off. I actually considered the Rennline but I prefer the putter ones installed over the fins. Here’s what it looks like.

Rennline is the other one that makes grill mesh, which goes behind the front bumper thus requiring its removal for installation.

Many of us who have installed Zunsports have painted our radiators with no ills effects. Keep in mind that we only did a light coat of flat black using a rattle can.

The grills look great. Not sure if I'd get the radiators painted though. Paint is not a good conductor of heat so you're losing radiator cooling surface. Also, painting will restrict air flow through the radiators. Maybe not that much but you really want as much cooling air passing through them as possible especially during the summer and/or in hot climate parts of the country. IMHO the slightly improved cosmetics ain't worth the possibility of having to buy a new engine. :corn:
