Help on 991.1 S- Launch How To

I have a Porsche 991.1 2013 S with PDK and PSM. My car has the sport button but not the sport plus button. My question is how do I maintain 6000 rpm rev in manual mode while in 1st gear without the vehicle computer killing the rev. I tried holding the brake and punching the car but the computer knew the brake was on and didn’t allow the rev. I also tried disabling the traction control and the computer wouldn’t allow it. My goal is to launch the car in high rev.

Launch is only enabled on sport chrono cars.

Yes thanks this I knew. Just trying to see if there is a work around. I can hold the brakes on my Silverado and smoke the tires to 5k RPM. On my 991.s when you engage brake and gas the computer shuts her down. Seems like Porsche did this on purpose or something is not working or I am doing something wrong.

Yes it's on purpose to charge for SC. Remember this is a clutch gearbox you can't load it like a torque converter.

Aha! Thanks. I knew it wasn’t me. I disengaged traction control, put on sport mode, etc. No matter what I tired computer shuts it down. Maybe a tune will work? The sport plus mode gains 2 tenths of a second on 0-60. This means 2 bumper lengths in a drag race for me.

Just do a neutral drop! Lol kidding.

Sorry can't help.

Cobb has a PDK flash that essentially enables launch control in sport mode. That said, not sure why you would want to drag race with a 991.1 S, they’re not particularly fast in a straight line.

The macan can do a launch in sport mode but its limited to 3500 rpm instead of 5000. Not sure if this carries over into 911. Only one way to find out.

I mean when a kid in a mustang shows up at the light and wants to run. Last time that happened I was racing a Mustang Boss 2016-2018 not sure the year. He took me by a bumpers length. I blame the inability to launch.

These things are a blast to do launch control with, TC off. Not the fastest in a straight line, but they get the power down and are faster than a 964 turbo.

Yeah right? I was thinking of selling because high 3’s is so slow.
