How would you package wheels if sending them across country

I have never purchased after market wheels nor shipped any, so I am wondering how you package them so they get to their destination in great condition? Seems like strapping them to a pallet is reasonable but sometimes even with a do not stack sign on the pallet the shipping company still puts tings on top. Thanks

If you want them packed properly and don't mind paying extra just take them to the UPS Store, Pack Rat, or like packing store and they will pack them and ship them. Otherwise, you can do them yourself but ship one wheel per box and ensure there is 2-4", depending on density, of packing material around each wheel. I have sent & received wheels before and it is not a big deal!

Go to a local tire store and see if they will give you some boxes.

Best bet is a UPS store. They will find boxes for them and pad them properly. Tires alone are easy, they can be shipped as is, not wrapped.

utube

I used ups when i did it but it was before the gas hike which never came down. I think i would use bidding service today like uship.

I once shipped (to myself) a set of 991 wheels with tires mounted. I went for overkill:

1. 4 heavy gauge corregated boxes, about 2 inches larger than the overall tire size (and cut down smaller for the fronts).

2. Extra layers of corrugated cardboard inside the top and bottom.

3. Double-bagged the wheels in HD trash bags.

4. Expanding foam in the bottom of the box, then the wheel and tire, and then more expanding foam on top and filling up the corners.

5. Fiber tape all arround the box outside in every direction.

Arrived in perfect condition.

Ditto.

There is a separate piece of cardboard for each side of the wheel within the box often (so 2 layers of cardboard) to help offer some more protection.

If shipping with tire, I usually stack 2 together with a layer or 2 of cardboard between them, and a few layers of cardboard on the outside over the wheels. Have never had an issue with damage when shipping.

soft layer over the face. then round cardboard over it front and back, with a lot of tape. pretty easy stuff really.
