Default 991.2 2017 GTS water pump failure

Hi. I just wanted to post this so if others have this issue. My 911 is a 2017 gts , noticed a small amount of pink liquid on my garage floor , took it to the dealership this morning and was told that the water pump , gasket and flange are going to replaced . Pump will have to come from Germany. My car only has about 4K miles on it and sadly never tracked . Should take about a week to get the part . I will find out more if this is known issue. I was told I would be getting an ‘ungraded’ or newest pump , whatever that means .

Thanks
Nik

Seems like a new post of this occurs weekly. Why did they not just recall them and fix them all at once?

What's amazing is the shoddy nature of water pumps in German cars (not just Porsche). Suspect it's still a very small percentage (or everyone would be complaining), but mechanics replace too many of these from the 996/986 era forward.

The guy who built a 2.2 for my 914 was telling me about his wife's old 4Runner, which he decided to go through as it was getting up to 15-18 years old. "While he was in there" he decided to replace the water pump as it looked like it had been in there a long time (predating their marriage by a fair bit, as she's had the 4Runner a long time). When he took it out, he said it looked so good he decided to reuse it—being skeptical about whether its replacement would match it for quality. So whoever was supplying water pumps for Toyota V6s back then might be among my first calls...

Same for me. 2017 991.2. 9k miles. New water pump needed. Will be in shop for 4 days. Was in for annual service. Great he caught/noticed pink drip.

If you speak this sentence aloud amongst a group of 928 owners insert earplugs prior as the volume level of their agreement may result in hearing loss.

Lol. I was going to ask if this is an issue popping up on 991.1 as well but forget it
