991.2 SharkWerks Exhaust - input

Several here have already installed the SharkWerks exhaust on their 991.2

I am looking for some pictures and install feedback. I am already sold on it.

Someone mentioned the Heatshield on one side is a pain to get out?

Any install input appreciated..

Still debating what to do first High Flow Cats, or Headers or the exhaust. Ideally all three at the same time would be easiest. But I may do 1 at a time

I saw a video posted on Instagram a few days back. Sounds very nice. Also, dyno was done on a T with and without. Picked up 21whp.

Not sure on the install.

I pulled the trigger and ordered this morning for my T.

I like it as well-surprised at the gains considering the PSE with valves open was supposed to be straight through! I may order, but it may be a bit too loud with my Soul Cat bypass pipes...

Sharkwerks did install for me. Just about an hour to get it installed. Seemed pretty straight forward. I have stock headers and cats and sound is great. Not overly loud. Seemed like ECU had to learn new flow as car didn't feel responsive at first but with more miles power felt like it picked up. To me car was little too tame with stock muffler. This raises sound output to nice level. Nice throaty sound. Pops and burbles more pronounced when running sport mode. If you appreciate fine fabrication work they have one of their more premium low volume US based fabricators making this exhaust. Very nice piece.

Thanks @Grantsfo

Nice to see this out there from SW. Now bugging them for a non-PSE version for the 991.2 Carrera/Carrera S. Wonder if the gains can be similar—or even better given the possibility for straight-through pathways. Not sure if that's a bonus, but willing to lend my car to find out.

The idea of power gains without ECU tuning...very interesting to me.

Group buy anyone?

Pete Id love a non PSE version for my .2S also. Are they considering making one?

^ Hmm. Sharkwerks has access to a local 991.2 Carrera non-PSE (mine), and can borrow it for a while as it sits most days (I walk to work) so long as I've got a whatever to drive if need be. I suspect a group buy might be all the motivation they'd need.

I've been amazed that so many systems are PSE-style, as that's whatever their cost is plus the cost of PSE....and there are a lot of us who prefer the more traditional non-PSE look. I don't know if the boys can work the magic they did with some of their GT car exhausts, as the 3.0 just ain't the same for the obvious two reasons, but the system on their GT3 3.9 remains my all-time favorite modern 911 soundtrack on the street.

Yeah, no pressure man. ;-)

Group buy would be nice

I grabbed the dyno off instagram (@gregzerban). The car was a Carrera T and had blowers forcing air thru the IC outlets. The car was dyno'd in Colorado, so take the number values with a grain of salt due to funky correction factors for altitude. But no doubt there are solid gains across the whole RPM range. This car is a stock tune. I was just thinking the same gains may not be seen at sea level as the ECU is very good hitting torque target and not going over in the mid-range. At altitude with the thinner air, the ECU will up the boost to whatever the limit is. Based on the dynos of the various headers and high flow cats, I'd guess at sea level there might not be much mid-range gains (ecu limited) but still top-end. Of course with a tune, that all changes :)

Curious about Torque Gains

90mph is ~4750rpm in 4th gear (tops out at ~130mph). Looks like ~20whp at 90mph/4750rpm, and doing some quick math, that's about 22wtq.

If we’re doing a group buy, I’m in. Otherwise, I’m thinking of making the purchase sometime soon. I wonder how it’ll sound in conjunction with the Soul cats on my T.

Also, just checked out videos of the 997 gt3 with sharkwerks and damn, the sound sent shivers down my spine. It’s undoubtedly a masterpiece.
