Looks like on 4-26-2019 you applied an update from a source dated 3-25-2013.

I think Porsche really messed up with their map update process. We are all intelligent people, why is this so confusing?

iIf you look above to original post of mine, you can see the update is dated 12-12-2018. I believe the the 2013 date refers to Some other version (new PCM?) start date.

My 4.76 has a source date of 12 Jun 2105. 4.76 disc part # is WKD-952-800-17. It doesn't make sense that they had to backdate to 4.52 unless there is some conflict that 4.76 was not made backwards compatible or the new nav update was made incorrectly and only coded for 4.52.

Agree, just doesn't make sense to release a nav database update and revert a three year old stable firmware release.

I would be interested to see someone update a 2012.5 with the 3.43 firmware.

I just remembered that when I last updated USA maps in 2017 my SWV dropped from 4.76 to 4.52. Took me and my dealer almost two years to figure out how to get it back to 4.76. Bottom line, if you install the new USA map update and you drop to 4.52, have them re-install SWV 4.76 DVD part #WKD-952-800-17. Worked for me with the last USA map update.

All, two pictures attached. First of 4.76 update with the 12 Jun 2015 Source (4.76 is synonymous to 12 Jun 2015 Source) and DVD part #WKD-952-800-17. The dealer or you can do this. The disc costs about $20, but my dealer did it for free.

Second picture is updating my European maps (ECE stands for Europe and Central Europe) on 2016-02-17 to source xxx1516 version. Next two entries are the load and re-load of USA (NA stands for North America) maps. First load was just before I left Germany in 2017 and had the latest USA maps installed on 2017-06-26 using map source xxx1511. When the dealer in Germany updated my USA maps my SWV dropped from 4.76 to 4.52 just like it seems to be doing for folks here. Took the car to my USA dealer when the car got back to the USA in August 2017 and asked them to re-install 4.76 but they didn't know how to do that and just re-installed the latest USA maps as evidenced by the duplicate entry with just a different date. Took me a year of asking and researching to figure out that the SWV 4.76 is a DVD update using part # WKD-952-800-17. They installed the DVD and I'm back to 4.76.

When I go this week, I'll confirm that SWV remained 4.76, if not, I will ask them to reinstall 4.76 using DVD part #WKD-952-800-17 which they have.

SWV 4.76 with 12 Jun 2015 Source Date. I re-installed it on 2019-2-25

Bottom Line

SWV and Map updates are two completely separate and un-related things. However, it seems that when they update maps, the SWV regresses to 4.52. It did this to me a few years ago.

If your SWV dropped from 4.76 to 4.52, have them reload SWV 4.76 DVD part #WKD-952-800-17. This exact thing happened to me in 2017 when I updated the original maps on my 2014 to the 4/2015 North America Map update. Once they do this you should be back to 4.76. The dealer did this for free. You can order the DVD for about $20 and do it yourself by simply installing the DVD in your PCM and following the prompts. There is a YouTube video:

Realize that when the mapping companies like Garmin or Tom-Tom or any of the others do a map update, they are probably at least 6-12 months behind the actual publication date so if some specific streets haven't updated, that is quite possible. As long as when you push INFO/SOURCE together and then HISTORY on your PCM it shows the latest NA (North America) map update you are updated with the latest maps. My outdated 4/2015 USA maps say:

Source 08D21511
Date: 2017-06-26 Time:12:10:05
4.74 PCM 31_NA_N314_1511_P6

When you look at yours after the 2019 update, the Source should be different and the last line that says "4.74 PCM 31_NA_N314_1511_P6" should be different indicating you have the new 2019 maps 997.044.909.61 you mentioned. When I go this week, I'll update what mine says.

Hope this helps.

To anyone who has done the map update can you please find the map update on INFO/SOURCE then HISTORY and post it?

The 2019 map update should have something different after "Source", the Date and time are the date and time you had the maps updated, and the last line starting with 4.74 should be different than what I have for the 4/2015 map update I last did.

Source 08D21511
Date: 2017-06-26 Time:12:10:05
4.74 PCM 31_NA_N314_1511_P6

Thanks

Sent a pm., but to share with all, I don’t have a section like below (in current or history) that Pavegeno928 has.

Source 08D21511
Date: 2017-06-26 Time:12:10:05
4.74 PCM 31_NA_N314_1511_P6

This is quite a dilemma!

UPDATE !

I composed a document with all the information I had learned from here and other on-line resources including pictures from Pavegeno928 and my own Current and History screens and sent it to the Service Manager at the dealership. He had the issue researched and at the end of the day today he called me back and explained that the item they had ordered - part # 977.044.909.61 was the correct one (pictured in my earlier post in the white envelope). It contains the Navigation Software update
disc(s) and separately inside the package the code to be used to download the actual map data as explained by Pavegeno928 in his post. When they updated me, they failed to complete the second step and actually update the map data. I am driving to the dealership on Wednesday to have that done (luckily they held onto the update materials). He did not know why the PPCM software would have downgraded from 4.76 to 4.52, but they will get that fixed on Wednesday as well.

Hopefully Wednesday trip will be successful. I will post an update upon my return.

Default Map update

I have 4.76. Why should I receive 4.52?

That's great news that they figured it out. Good luck and let us know how it goes. I am supposed to go no Wednesday as well, but they e-mailed today to let me know they still hadn't gotten the map update disc with the code in for me yet.

I think it just automatically backdates to 4.52. It did it to me two years ago when going to the 2015 map update. Doesn't make sense, but after they load the map update, have them reload 4.76 with the DVD part #WKD-952-800-17 that they should have on hand.
