Porsche Model Names
Some time ago, I stumbled onto a Wikipedia article about an open road race by the name of "Carrera Panamericana" that ran from Mexico down to the border with Guatemala. Cool, Porsche helped itself for naming the 911 and Panamera. Having forgotten the kick off date, I go and reread the article today and settle that memory gap, the inaugural date was on 5/5/1950, to celebrate the completion of the Panamerican Highway.
Then a hyperlink in that article, to another open road race jumps out at me and boom, another reference, Targa Florio!
It started in 1906 on the island of Sicily...in the mountains near the capital of Palermo.
If you know of any other references, share away.

Nobody has had cooler car names than Porsche. From "911" to "Carrera" to "Panamera," Boxster, Cayman, etc. all home runs which perfectly define the car they're intended to.
Now we get "Taycan" and it's like.... what happened.

Excellent article in the current edition of Total 911 about how the numbering system for 911's came about. Super interesting.

You know something is wrong if they have to make videos to show you how to pronounce it!

Hahaha that video is so cringe! Marketing 101: Find a name that you have to make a video of to teach people how to pronounce it. [facepalm]
People still don’t even get “Macan” right.
And the correct pronunciation of “Taycan” is even worse than I thought.
