Default 991 Speedster

I have had a two deposit in at Walters/Riverside Porsche for the new 991 Speedster for nearly a year. I was just informed they will not be honoring my deposit for the second and third Speedster they may receive. They do not know their allocation of Speedsters and said they are sorry they can not promise me a car at this time. How lucky am I? Has anyone else had this issue happen to them?

How much over MSRP were they charging you?

That was not discussed yet.

Then a friend of a manager took your spot,

I had forgotten all about these cars until you brought it up and I was considering one myself but my Targa GTS has been so great I doubt I would want to change now.

UK case, but still:

A deposit may be a contract. If they're not going to honour it in favour of others you may want to talk to a lawyer.

You can also buy a Cab and make it look like a Speedster: https://nrauto.com/product/porsche-9...er-style-hump/

Your first mistake was dealing with Walters/Riverside....a horrible stealership that doesn't even take care of their good customers with GT cars. No shocker here. I'd bet that they'll be asking 6 figure ADMs for their Speedster allocations.

I recently asked the sales manager of my local dealer about the 991.2 Speedster. They received one allocation and it's already spoken for. This dealer usually doesn't charge over MSRP on cars sold to someone who's previously purchased from them. The prospective purchaser has agreed to allow the dealer to feature the car at his showroom for a time. I'll be interested to see it in the flesh.

Hum... Manual gearbox, 3.2 sec to 60 MPH and 100 pounds heavier than a standard GT3. That doesn't compute.

I've heard that the Speedster may be shown at NY auto show.

What really doesn't compute is the $275k price tag. Porsche marketing is the new Evian.

I think I'm safe to say that most are already "sold" at something over MRSP. Also, the secondary market will probably see sales at $500+k.

I'm not so sure, given the recent downward trend in the market for GT cars. This car is already pushing close to 2RS money.
