Center console lid does not stay up

Center console lid does not stay up
Intermittent issue. New 991.2 C2S.
Sometimes I lift the lid & it remains up, as it should, so I can put something in or take something out one handed.
Other times it refuses to stay up & bounces hovering ½ to ¾ closed. I know it has some type of spring hinge.
Is there some trick to making it stay fully up?

There absolutely is a spring that assists in raising and holding the center console lid up. I doubt it is broken but your lid may be binding for some reason. To get to the spring you'll have to remove the lid from its frame and the forward portion of the rear console. The screws are hidden under the rubber pad in the little storage well.

I just replaced mine with a 991.2 armrest. Spring is probably out of alignment. My best guess is the spring has either dislodged it's self or was never installed correctly from the factory. If it's not set correctly it won't assist in keeping the lid open.

Since my car is < 3 months old, it must be a defect in the spring or the installation of the spring. Strange that it is intermittent.
I will have it fixed under warranty when I bring the car in for either the 1 yr. oil change or a more important warranty issue. So far, this is the only issue.

While I was @ Porsche getting alarm checked out, tech checked CC lid & was able to duplicate failure to stay up. When it does stay up a slight push will send it back down. We checked the CC lid of a new GTS & it was similar but seemed to stay up a bit stronger.
I will probably have the spring replaced under warranty when I have my 1st service.
I wish Porsche kept the same CC lid function as in the Macan it has an indent position when up so it locks into place. Who cares about the 'springy effect?'
My guess is with the Macan system you can slam the lid & with the 911 spring system it will not slam down, rather gently 'float' down & will not close all the way unless physically pushed down.
Nice ...IF it worked correctly. It does not.

I also have very little stored in that tiny compartment. A small, rechargeable flashlight, that just fits, along with the short USB cord to charge it + a small knife go in the far, separate, divided section.
STREAMLIGHT MICROSTREAM USB < 4" long

I keep a pen & an old style manual tire gauge in the main compartment.
So when I want to put my phone in there to make use of the signal booster (IDK that it actually helps at all) I put move the pen & gauge over to one side so the phone can lay flat & that @**$#!! CC lid will not stay up, making it hard to do... one handed. I don't like to just leave my phone in there, since I then forget it when I leave the car.
1st world problems, LOL.

I'm getting this looked at during my annual service today -- did you guys ever get this fixed or what was the feedback from Service? I also have an '18 991.2 GTS (maybe a factory issue since it's so common?).
