Default Just to keep the car on warranty, I have to take it to the dealer for an oil change

Bought the car (2013, base Carrera, with 46Kmiles) from Porsche dealership with CPO (2 year warranty). Now it has 53Kmilles and the oil service light is blinking (3800 miles or in 16 days), I would need to take to the dealer for an oil change (to keep up with the warranty). There is no way that I could drive 3800 miles in 16 days.

So, what will happen on the display when I passed 16 days?

thanks

Porsche CPO warranties require all service work to be done by the dealership who sold the car? This is news to me.

The standard new purchase warranty doesn't require anything like that. We can do the service ourselves, or at a independent shop.

In 16 days the warning will change to "Change Oil Now".

You don’t need to take it to the dealer for an oil change in order to keep your warranty.

If your dealer told you that you have to bring it to them for the oil change to maintain the warranty, thank them.

The Magnuson-Moss act states that if a service or item is required to be procured from the dealer to maintain warranty, it must be provided free of charge.

Oh man.. that's an amazing bit of information. Thank you.

Also.. I skimmed the Act, but got bored, then found this:

"Dealerships and manufacturers cannot deny a warranty claim or void a warranty if the consumer went to an independent mechanic, a chain shop, or performed repairs or routine maintenance on their own."

^^ Agree with above. It does not have to be dealer maintained.

I thought there was something where they can't CPO a car if it wasn't dealer serviced.

Not...
Just be sure to document with all the receipts. And photos, if necessary. Do all the maintenance required, have the documentation and it's OK to CPO.

CPO just requires it to be 1 owner I believe.

Not correct. I bought my previous car used (with no past service records etc.) form an independent dealer and once I traded it in it was sold CPO with over 70,000 miles on the clock to the third owner.

Do,it your self for less then 100.00 and it will be done right and you won't find a dent or a scratch or some other issue .
