Default This is so weird, trunk pops open while washing the car with key in pocket?

I have a 2019 4GTS and when I'm spraying water on the hood and I have the key in my pocket the trunk pops up. When I take the key away and put it in the house it doesn't happen. Has anyone else experienced this, and if so why? I don't get it. Under any other circumstance the hood does not pop open when my key is in my pocket! Help

If you have the key with you and move the hand near the emblem, the "Frunk" will open. It has a sensor there so you do not have to use the key button.

This. What I do when washing is leave the key in the car. Frunk doesn’t open when near it.

Welcome to Porsche Entry and Drive ownership.

I just leave it in the car now when I wash.

I get what he is saying, and it is slightly different than what you are saying. I don't have to be within three feet of mine, let alone have my hand near the sensor. The water cascading off the car sets it off. Happens with the trunk and frunk of my Boxster as well.

I try to remember to leave the key on my trash can in the garage.

Thanks guys, I feel better now! Frankly speaking though I'm not sold on this feature.

I leave the key in the car. My other car would beep/lock and beep-beep/unlock every time the stream hit the door handle, so I learned to just leave the key inside the car when i washed it.

I leave my key in my house when I am washing my car. Love the feature otherwise.

My kids think I am a Jedi when I wave my hand over the frunk and it opens.

My magic frunk opening skills have apparently faded as my month and ten day old GTS seems to no longer respond to me trying to open the frunk with a hand hover.

The Force is not strong with you is the only explanation.

BTW, my frunk will open and door locks will trigger when I am washing the car with the key in my pocket.

I’ve washed mine only once so far... was really surprised by the just-add-water Magic Frunk opening trick.

As long as it doesn’t do the same thing in a rainstorm, I’ll learn to live with it.

that was one of the things I found so annoying about Porsche Entry & Drive. Glad to no longer have it, not on my Carerra T or GT3. No cost to skip it but would pay to skip if I had to.

It's a minor annoyance to an otherwise great option. Especially for those of us that are well rounded.
