Default Can you swap out regular steering wheel for MF wheel?

Anyone know if this is possible and if so, how difficult is it to do?
I have a 7MT and a sport design wheel but want to replace it with a multi-function wheel.
Thanks

Suncoast used to advertise that you could (and needed $700 in part to do so, I assume the clock spring and the MF stalk delete parts), but now say you can’t. I also understand you used to get a code to put in PWIS to activate MF. I’d call Ric and suncoast and ask.

Yes, you need
- New wheel
- new airbag (depending on 991 gen)
- contact ring/control unit
- reprogramming

If your car is a .1 its a straight swap (airbag carry over).

You'll need a cheap Porsche bolt, some programming and the wheel and the control stalk.

If you need a low mileage MF wheel, PM me, I'm selling mine with the control stalk also - I went the other way and upgraded to a Sport wheel.

Good luck

does anyone know the part number needed for the clock spring? I was under the impression that only the wheel and programming would need to be done and not the clockspring.

Looking at your avatar - you have a .1? If that's the case, you will not need a new airbag.

What is a/the clock spring?

AFAIK, you need the wheel, column stalk and dealer programming only.

Thanks-I have a .2 carerra t. Is the stalk needed to eliminate the factory multifunction stalk? Can it be left in place or does it have to be changed?

Ah I see. I'm not sure how the MF works in the .2.

In my .1 the MF wheel comes with a three column stalk (lights, wipers, cruise).

With the sports wheel, a new stalk is supplied with a 4th column, for the MF.

Hope that helps!

Thanks for the info, all.
Yes I have a 991.1 so it seems there will not be an airbag issue. I will send you an PM Rezok.

+1
If you don't have the correct clock spring (contact/control unit) you won't have the wires to plug into the new multi function steering wheel.
