Silver Airbag Trim Removable?

I was looking at mine closely and just for the heck of it I put my finger nail into the side of it and I was able to pry it out a little so I used a tiny trim tool and it came out much more, to where I could get the tool totally under it. The trim did not pop out all around though so I stopped in fear I would damage it but the same trim is Black in the T so maybe it is replaceable?

I'ld like to know also! Too many shiny things on my GTS wheel!

I just found out that the silver trim is not a separate part and is part of the airbag - anyone interested in buying my as new airbag from my 2019 Targa GTS? I am sure they fit many models/years.

The airbag trim is silver on the T also :(

My bad, I thought the T had Black trim since the 3 steering wheel inserts are Black, but I know I have seen a 991.2 airbag with Black trim though...wonder which model?

Seems like another trim ring painting project ? I think all models have a silver ring - even the 911R.

You are correct since I spent some time looking at all of the variants. I contacted the ebay person referred to here so I will let everyone know what they say.

Too many shined things period, especially for drop tops and targas. On a sunny day it’s totally annoying, even with my sunroof open. I blacked out the dash trim with leather but there are still those shiny things that catch the sun.

I am in for a black wheel ring if u figure it out Bob. Hopefully they can make the piece with 3M tape so it just sticks on

They should use the same finish as the black sport tailpipes :-)

Bob Z. 03-15-2019 02:18 PM

I'd be fine with using the same black finish as the gauge trim is, which is a kind of a satin black.

I just remembered where I saw the black trim ring on the steering wheel, in the 992! When the 992 parts become available I will try and find out if that airbag can be used in the 991.2 as well.

Damn, I had it all wrong. Anyway, as one can now see the 992 will have the Black trim ring. I actually like the 992 steering and if the non-Multifunctional one can be fitted to the 991.2 I may swap it out. I also noticed that the 992 has right knee (driver) and left knee (passenger) pads and if I can fit them to my car I can remove my make-shift knee pad. But I still do not like the 992 overall so let's not turn this into a 992-related thread.
