Do you ever drive your 991 as a point A to A car - just to drive for fun, not to get anywhere in particular, but just to drive? On your own, not part of a club or driving event? I've done that a few times but it feels like I'm wasting time and tend to not go too far or keep it short. I don't have the best roads nearby and LEO patrol pretty heavily so it makes spirited driving a little more challenging.

I do this weekly with the 1987 3.2 I bought last year. Just to keep everything running smooth. Usually a 30 min drive on country roads outside city limits.

991...not really. Usually it's 1-2 times for work if weather is good, or coffee/dinner on the weekends.

Can't tell you how many times during the work week I've left my desk early so I could get a good drive in. Or came up with some B.S. excuse to get lost for a few hours on a weekend. Fortunately, the wife and young ones love the car too, so we get some good family time in her too. And I think that makes ownership so much more rewarding.

But I do so very much enjoy those go nowhere drives with just me and the P-Car.

Only about 12,000 miles per driving season.

I voted ‘Rarely’ but that’s because I have the pleasure of using my 991 for about 15,000 miles per year to actually go places!

If a late night drive 4-8 exits away and back is considered nothing, then yea... all the time.

Yes, try and do this once a week at least. Then another time I will do some of my normal running around with it, makes things a bit more exciting.

I do sometimes and feel the exact same way.. Sometimes when I get home I even feel guilty because all I did was accumulate more rock chips, mileage, and wasted time. Lately it seems impossible to get a good driving day with an abnormal amount of rain, hideous traffic and bad/distracted drivers... Now we have indian reservation cops patrolling a section of a nice highway because they have a fancy casino there. Was recently pulled over for speeding (no radar) and the cop was trying his best to make me admit I was speeding.

In this car (991.2 tuned) I feel like it's best used on the highway with open roads (when simply trying to cruise.. Not commute).

Often. Although lately the weather is barely good enough to take any kind of drive on summer tires. Fortunately, just minutes away from home are wonderfully twisty backroads through the hills outside Pittsburgh with little residential and good condition (especially for this area). Just took a heavenly NO GUILT Sunday morning 45 minute loop at the break of dawn. No need to go more than a few miles over the speed limit to have a ton of fun. Home in time for hot coffee and breakfast with my wife. I'll take shorter versions of this loop during the week before work once the sun starts coming up earlier. No traffic and no guilt. (2018 Carrera T, manual, with all the fun handling add-ons)

I do this often. Just today during my lunch hour I went out for a 1/2 hour blast by myself with no particular place to go. It helps clears my head. Sometimes on weekends I'll do the same thing with my wife, we both like to go for drives.

That was the main purpose of the purchase. Saturday and/or Sunday drives. Generally decide a direction and the make lefts or rights on whatever is pleasing at the time. Find some small town diner/bar to get lunch and then when ready, pull up in Nav the fastest way to get home. Usually 2-5 hours. The early rider gets nice open roads.

Default Oh yeah!

Saturday or Sunday (or, both) on the back roads of horse country in MD. My wife and I look for country roads with lots of views and twists. She views and I twist! Then, an inn for an early dinner. And, last, a sunset drive home. The Targa is best for this. Top down, windows up, heater on in the winter, and a Porsche visor to shade the sun. Lots of flashed headlights from other Porsches. Lots of thumbs up from bicyclists. Great experience.

I just got mine, but I have explored my neighborhood plenty these days looking for some nice roads- but yeah, nowhere to go.
