New 911t owner!!!

Hi team, wanted to introduce myself to the group-my name is Ray and I am the proud owner of a 2018 911t! The car was delivered just a couple weeks back-but the process to get a 911t started well over a year ago. Bear with me and I will tell you my story:
I am a car guy at heart and have some other fun rides (e30 m3, 2jz swapped ls400, gixxer, 650whp Supra (Supra now sold). My wife dislikes my hobby-often stating that my cars are “impractical” or “why don’t you sell all your cars and get one “good” car?” Long story short-I ended up loosing traction in my Supra and put it into a guard rail. Instead of fixing a car that really was impractical (set up for drag racing) I decided to list it for sale to appease the wife...thinking it would not sell-it sold!!! From there I was determined to get a Porsche 993-I searched for a while and decided that if I was going to get one, it needed to be the turbo model-however I missed the market by a long shot on those cars. With prices in the low 100s-it was a bit steep for a 20+ year old car that would still need some work. The search goes on...

Determined to get a P car-I looked into the 997 turbos. With prices in the 60-70k range it fit the bill but still didn’t hit the mark for me. Then my wife said-let’s go check out the new 911’s at the dealer. Her thought is that it would be more practical and have less issues than an “expensive old car”. I test drove a 17’ c2 and was impressed. I also drove a 14 991s and it was nice-but being a turbo guy the 991.2 really spoke to me. I started to research and discovered the carerra t-it fit the bill for me but there was one problem...$110k plus to pick up a decent one new.

As any addicted car nut would do-I started searching and researching-setting up saved searches in auto trader, etc. I was looking at pre-owned 991.2 base models-my main thing was to get a manual. Eventually I almost pulled the trigger on a Miami blue base-but my wife was not a fan of the color. I ended up passing on it and kept looking. During my searches-gt4’s kept popping up. I kept moving past them as they didn’t have backseats and I figured the wife would not approve. Then one day a Carmine red one showed up for sale at a local Mercedes dealer down the street from my house. A Dr. traded it for an Amg gt. It didn’t sell for a few weeks and the prices dropped from 112k to 96k. At 96k-I went to see it. I like it, it was responsive-modern and was still pretty new. I ended up going back on the weekend with the wife who surprisingly liked it as well and we made a deal for less than asking. I was now a P car owner of a 2016 gt4!!!

This was February of 2018-I really enjoyed the gt4 but still longed for the carerra t. Seeing that the gt4s were going for slightly less than msrp (mine was 108k msrp) my plan was to drive it for a bit and then sell it and buy a cpo carerra t when they started to hit the market. I did all the bolt ones for the gt4 and used it sparingly. My plan was to use it on the track as it was designed but with a toddler at home I never saw the track once with it. I also couldnt enjoy the car with the wife or my toddler as my wife was home watching the kid...and we couldn’t take her with us as there was no backseat. My wife wouldn’t let me put the toddler in the front seat for fear of the airbag. Soon my “practical” gt4 was “not practical”.

Fast forward to q4 2018...we are expecting another child due in January of 2019!!! Great news but now I really need to make a move as my gt4 was not cpo and the warranty would be expiring in June of 2019. I called around for trade ins and got some lowball offers from dealerships-eventually I found my current 911t at Porsche Delaware and they gave me a decent amount on trade and the 911t was cpo at the right price.

The color was not “loud” and it had backseats-room for 4!!! I posted a thread here on a few options to chose from for 911ts and the consensus was this fit the bill the best. In the end, I wanted a few things to stay true to the 911t:
It had to be manual and had to have at least one of the following options:
Rear wheel steering, LWB’s, or pccb’s.

Lwbs got knocked off quick as there was no backseat. This car fit the bill as it had rws and was also slicktop (true to being slightly lighter). We negotiated and struck a deal. Thanks to forum member @carerrat (Chuck) who had some insight on this particular car and spent some time with it. He spoke to me about it and I was confident buying it sight unseen. They shipped the car to me and picked up my gt4:

Bye bye

Now the car is mine and the mods have begun!!! My plan is to truley enjoy the car, not be afraid to rack up
the miles like I was on the gt4 and do some fun modifications to it!!! Here is a pic from that first day a couple weeks back:

Now my plate makes sense (this was on the Supra). Didn’t make sense on the gt4

The car had a good spec sheet-I wish it was spec’d with the multifunction steering wheel as I really like that feature-it was actually the first thing I bought and will tackle that retrofit this week (parts just arrived for it). Here is a pic of where she sleeps:

I am a big diy guy-often trying things others would not. I plan to take the car next week for a baseline dyno and a follow up run with it’s first power mod. I will make threads to document all the processes as I do them. Thanks again to the forums and people for all the help and knowledge-can’t wait to enjoy the car and have some fun with it!!!
