Dead, Dead, Dead Battery
I park/store my car in a parking garage and unfortunately, there are no electrical outlets for a trickle charger. I haven’t driven it much this winter, and the last three weeks not at all due to travel and the flu. It’s a beautiful day today and thought to take it home but alas, the battery is dead. Really dead. Nothing. So I used the key to get in, but couldn’t pop the frunk for a jump start another guy kindly offered. I think it’s possible through the fuse box, but need to check on that tonight.
I wonder if anybody uses another method? I’ve seen a charger that is used through the cigarette lighter. I wonder about that.
I have an MT - any local guys want to push me around the garage while I pop the clutch - lol.

Yah there is a little positive tab in the fusebox on the drivers side to pop the Frunk using a 12volt source. I have yet to try the cigarette lighter method of jumping the car, I would be curious to see if that works in our cars.

Thanks, found that video but nothing for the 991.2 but assume it’s similar. Also found earlier posts. I am a little concerned about Wes’ comments
ont be dead battery code. Something tells me a dead battery is more than a simple charge. Yikes.

Sorry, one more question. To get the frunk open, can I attach jumper cables to the terminal in the fuse box. The manual says to use a 12 V battery, but wouldn’t jumper cables work?

The 12 volt battery is in the other car with the good battery, you are using the jumper cables to connect to bridge to fuse box/ground in the 911... Or did I misunderstand your Q?

Yeah, they show a battery with cables, not a car and jumper cables. Stupid question on my part but wanted to make sure.

No worries, and good luck. I'd like to hear if you really need to press the key fob to pop the frunk, I was surprised to learn in the video that the door sill button still won't work. I'm sure I would have been stumped with that one...

It was weird using the key to enter the car. After turning the lock, you pull the key out, let the handle down, the pull the handle again. Also, it seems there is some electronic “help” with the door opening so it did not open as easily.

Three Wheelin'
There is an procedure in the manual for my 09 Boxster. In the left drivers fuse box pull out terminal C with the gripper and connect to positive terminal of a donor battery. Then connect the negative terminal to the door arrester and the battery. First if you had electricity you needed to use a battery maintainer, not a trickle charger. I plug my trickle charger into the aux port in the passenger foot wheel. You would think that would be enough to open the frunk. Would like to know if anyone has done. I also have one of the lithium jump starts that has a cigarette adapter. That would also seem to work.

I just figured out how to get the mechanical key out of the key fob. I never tried that before, I wouldn't want to be doing that for the first time in some dark parking lot...

Not of much current help, but be sure to double click the key FOB to put the car into sleep mode immediately. I have not driven my car in 3 months and after every 6 week it is put on a charger. It always has a 50% charge before I put the charger on it. If you are losing this amount of power from the battery, then maybe the battery is not so good.
