Dead, Dead, Dead Battery

Not of much current help, but be sure to double click the key FOB to put the car into sleep mode immediately. I have not driven my car in 3 months and after every 6 week it is put on a charger. It always has a 50% charge before I put the charger on it. If you are losing this amount of power from the battery, then maybe the battery is not so good.

Well, I’ll see today if it’ll jump start. I have the procedure down. I’ll take it for a two-hour ride and see if it charges. I’ll take it for an eight hour run to PA and back this weekend.

No joke. Today’s Drive is through the Maryland countryside along the Potomac, cross the river above Leesburg and back down the Virginia side. I still have the winter tires on so it’ll be a soft ride.

I keep this $54 Costco jump-starter behind the drivers seat. Have used it twice to open the frunk when my lithium battery went into low voltage protection mode.

this problem.
Specifically, they leave out the last step in programming the garage door opener, and re-learning the TPMS. There are other items as well

I keep one of these behind the rear jumper seats. If I ever have a dead battery I will use this to access the frank. Then in the frunk I have a full set of jumper cables if needed. Hopefully this unit will jump the battery as well. I have used it to jump a Tacoma and F150 and it works fine.

There are several different types of portable jump chargers on Amazon, too, at various prices. Not sure which one to get but it does seem like a nice thing to have, especially since getting to the battery via the frunk is so problematic without power.

Everything worked as per the manual. It started right up and no error codes, just the clock needing reset. Whew! I read that the car goes into hibernation mode in these instances. Good stuff.
Out for my drive now and stopped at one of the parks along the Potomac, leaving the car running.
