Default Tires and or wheels?

I'm an old guy who will probably never see a track day or even push my car to the max on public roads. I would love to install the new Bridgestone AS tires on my GTS but they won't work on the 12" rear wheels. So I've been looking into buying a new set of wheels with 11' rears. That has turned into more money then I want to spend, about $5 to $7k for wheels only. So I guess what I'm looking for now is either a tire that wears well and is quiet or an inexpensive CL wheel set. Oh, and I really would like to get rid of the satin black wheels. Thanks in advance if you have some useful suggestions.

Give BC Forged a call, their prices are really good for forged wheels. Personally I like the satin black wheels but would like to get a set of blue wheels as well.

I fear you are going to spend all this money, and the car is not going to be significantly quieter. Just keep fresh tires on the car. When you hear the howl, after about 10-15K miles, change 'em.

There's been a whole lot of information in regards to the Bridgestones being too stretched for 12 in rims, the 11 1/2 likely won't be much better therefore, the 11s are likely the best choice with this setup.

Thanks, currently working with them but it looks like they will still be in the $5k range. CL's aren't cheap.

I know this, that is why I said 11" in my post.

I guess that's an option but not what I asked for.

But what compels you to think that 11" wheels and AS tires will make your car as quiet as your expectations? These are NOT quite cars.

My P Zeros are still pretty quiet at 8k miles, but I know as time goes on that will change. On the BS 980 thread the people that have been able to buy them seem very happy, and they are rated at 50K. I know that won't happen but 30k would be nice.

Maybe research some of the sound deadening others have done here too with Dynamat? Good luck.

I don't think you are following my goal. I'm looking for a tire that get some miles and stays quiet. I don't want to add sound deadening. No need to reply, but thanks.

I'd trade my Gloss Black OEM S 20" wheels for yours, 8.5" and 11.5" by 20" 5 lug, 5200 miles on mine, with PZeros. I don't care for the glossy finish. Everybody's taste is different!
But mine would not work of if you have center lug wheels.

Nice looking car. Yeh, that won't work, I do have CL's. I didn't order my car, I found the color combo I wanted and it had the std. wheels. Other than a slight weight saving, I can't think of anything else that is a plus with them. Maybe someone else can tell me why they are std. on the GTS. I have no idea why they are used on GT3's. Everything I've read or seen on YT state that you can't use an impact and they must be loosened with a breaker bar with wheels off the ground and the brakes held to keep them from rotating. PITA

OZ sells inexpensive CL wheels with 11in rears.

Tirerack used to carry them, but no longer shows them. I am sure you can find them somewhere or used. There are also the factory winter wheels which you might find a used set. Suncoast has a set (which I referred to a RL friend) for $3700 with expired tires.

Were these wheels ever standard equipped on any 911 from the factory? I don't mean with winter tires, just the wheels. If yes, can someone tell me the year and model? Thanks,
