Default Purchased a 2017 991.2 S - Warranty help?

Hey Guys,

Purchased a CPO 2017 991.2 today with 13k miles. I finish paperwork and pick it up tomorrow. Financial person is trying to sell me Platinum warranty. I searched the forum and there's a lot of info, but for a newbie it's very confusing.
Dealer quoted me: 2. Platinum Extended Warranty: $ 7,350 (Unlimited claims for 84 months Or 100k, any mechanical, transmission, electrical system, engine, drive axle, seals and gaskets, shocks, suspension, fuel system, climate control, steering, brakes, navigation, and audio will be covered with $250 deductible)

From what I'm seeing on here this seems high. No? Can I leave lot and buy another warranty after the fact?
They're also trying to sell me the Road Hazard and Maintenance coverage. Do I need these? I definitely want to get an extended warranty but don't want to pay $7k if I don't have to. Or is it worth it? Help?

1. Protection against the road hazard: 3,455
Covering your tires, rims, wheels, alignments, dent, ding and windshield for 5 years, unlimited claims and mileage, $0 deductible.
3. Maintenance coverage for 3 years or 30k, $0 deductible: 4,232

Coming out of a Tesla and couldn't be happier.

I agree with the posters above - NO. First, if it is a 2017 and CPO, do you know when the original warranty was punched? You should have years of CPO to "enjoy". Second, you can always purchase an after market warranty later (at a much lower price if you shop a little). Leaving the lot will not have any impact on that.

Enjoy the car - and keep reading the board to learn a lot and remember to take many of the posts with a grain of salt....

So they are trying to sell you a extended warranty on a CPO'ed car? WTF?

One thing I would do different if I get another is get the rim/tire protection. I didn't realize how freaking expensive these wheels are.

Yeah, Saying no. What about the maintenance coverage? Aren't the every 10k miles services expensive? Wouldn't this cover them?

Are you really going to drive the car?

Some on here to get 30K on the car is going to take them 10 years.

Seeing the car already has 13K on the car...... I would skip the maintenance coverage.

A 10K annual service is an oil change and filters and will run you $300-$500 depending on the dealer - or do it yourself. The in-between service is a bit more....but nothing too crazy. If it is CPO then all of the services MUST be current.

Doesn't the CPO kick in after the factory warranty expires? Factory must have ~2 years left at least on a 2017. So CPO is another 2 on top of that. What would the $7K cover?

The finance guy is on something.

I'm saying the CPO is an excellent warranty (I believe it is still effectively the exact same thing as a factory warranty) and so if you are already covered for 2+2 years then they are trying to sell you years 5, 6 and 7 but you pay now?

It just makes no sense.

Wait until ~2023 and decide then!
