14-Way Sport Seats Uncomfortable
I recently purchased my 2012 911 S in October. The car is amazing and I am enjoying almost every minute of it. The problem I am having is with the 14-Way Sport Seats. I find them very uncomfortable in the shoulder area. I am 165lbs 5'9" standard build. I was hoping someone could suggest options for me (i.e. after market padding, seat modification by professional interior trim shop, swapping the seats for sport plus, or after market seats).
I have the black standard interior seats (AG) with the 14 Way Sport Seats (P06). The seat have Ventilation (541) and Heat (342).
Thanks for reading.

No help, but just to say I'm about the same size as you, maybe an inch taller and 5 lbs fatter. After coming from 3 previous with Sports Plus non-memory, I actually find the basic ones more comfortable and more than adequately gripping. My, wife, somewhat smaller, likes them too but hated the Sports Plus precisely because she said uncomfortable on the shoulders.
I also love the 14-way memory entry and exit function which reverts the seat and steering wheel all the way back when you turn off and returns them when you crank up. Plus the key and 2 settings allowing you to have different driving positions at a touch for relaxed/reclined or more spirited/attentive driving as takes you. The downside is that all that electrickery might impact upon being able to switch out seats for an alternative.
What about those wooden bean things you see some taxi drivers have on their backrest? Look uncomfortable to me but I'm told they're great for distance and long periods driving.

How recent is your purchase?
When I bought my Boxster GTS I was immediately in love with the 18-way seats. My wife too. We still are. My favorite seats in any vehicle I've ever owned.
My 911, however, came with 14-ways. It was the one compromise I made. We both HATED them initially. I kid you not when I say it took us both a solid three weeks to find a comfortable setting. I'm OK with them now. We'll see how they feel after our first 15 hour straight drive in a couple of months.
The one caveat is I strongly request passengers not adjust the passenger seat. Move it forward or backwards for leg room, but leave my wife's other settings alone.

Obviously I didn't, and it's mostly fine now.

Try differing angles of the seat back. I found at the 14 ways uncomfortable in the shoulders, especially because of the seam in the leather that seemed to dig into my shoulders. I tried a different angulation of the seat (reclining it less, I think). Problem completely gone! Can drive hours in the 14 ways now when a short hop was a problem before.

I actually like the base Sports seat. The mechanical fore/aft adjustment makes me feel like an everyman.

I have 14 and love them. Take your time adjusting them - am sure you will find a comfortable setting, just takes time.

I spent a lot of time at a dealership moving back and forth between sitting in a 991.2 w/14-ways and a 991.2 w/18-ways. It became pretty clear pretty quickly that for me, the 18-ways were much more comfortable. I could never quite find a comfortable position w/the 14-ways. But others love them.
OP - if you can't get comfortable in the 14-ways, I'd recommend heading to a dealership and doing some sitting in the various different OEM seats available to you. Then once you've found ones you like, start searching for used ones, or just order new OEM ones and get them installed. You might be able to find someone who has the seats you prefer and arrange a swap w/them. But the first step is figuring out what you would like.

Felt the same way about the 14ways. They pinch at the upper back/shoulders. Having owned all the different Porsche seats, my conclusion is you sit 'on' the 14 ways, while you sit 'in' the 18ways. I always felt like the upper portion of the 14 ways were too narrow to fully connect with, and I'm a relatively thin guy.
Only solution is to swap them for a set of 18ways or 4ways.

5'11" 175lbs and coming from 20yrs in BMW 5-Series. Took about 3 weeks to find settings I liked and could handle the 14 ways for a days ride.

I totally agree! I had a 997.2 with the 14-way for a short period and just never could get totally comfortable. Eventually sold it and bought a 991.2 with the 18-way and for me it's a big improvement. I'm a larger guy, 6'6" so it was a big part of my back that was pressed against the side bolsters. With the 14-way I spent hours adjusting the various settings but never could get away from feeling like I was leaning on those bolsters.
