Default 2017 991.2 Any concerns????

So I found a 2017 911 C2. Just a base model with the 3.0 turbo rwd. A few options on this car. Potentially trading my Panamera in for it this weekend. Is there any concerns with these cars? I haven’t heard much bad about them. It would still have warranty til 5/18/20 but I’m just wondering from those who own one what concerns there may be or things I need to check for. With the 992 coming out, should I wait for these to drop in price more? Asking price is around $74k. Any help would be great.

I bought mine in December 2017 used and my warranty expires June 2020. No mechanical problems at all, so far. I have replaced the PCM and the Climate Control unit. Both under full vehicle warranty. The PCM would shut down without reason and dealer tried to update software, but that failed so replaced the unit. The climate control module temperature display numbers would start flashing and were not able to read. No problem on that either. Took it dealer, they ordered new unit and replaced. So, the car has been simply fantastic to drive and everything I expected it to be and then some. 15 months later I still smile every morning when I see the car and even more so when I drive it. I've done many 500 mile trips and comfortable on the road, but even more fun on the track which I've done quite regularly.

Good luck with your decision and hope you'll be like me and enjoy the hell out of a wonderful automobile.

Nothing yet on my 2017 C2S at 5000 miles. It is perfect, so far.
On my 2015 991.1 Manual C2S, owned 2 years from 3000 to 10,000 miles, it needed 3 repairs for $30,000 - all covered under warranty.

I'm at 17K miles on my 2017. No issues yet.

That being said, being used to a 981 Boxster, my 911 initially seemed to make all kinds of weird mechanical noises. My first 911, so I'm not sure if it is a 911 thing or a turbo 911 thing, but don't be too spooked if it sounds quirky. I'm the worrying type and it took me months to accept the 911 just sounds different than other cars I've owned.

I think a 991.2 base low option car is a great choice, I'm on the lookout for one myself.

Is the car you are looking at a PDK car? Does it have Sport Chrono?

The issue I have is that most of the resale base cars I see come up for sale is they are PDK without Sport Chrono, which is a deal-breaker for me. On a PDK car, the Sport Chrono option adds the "Sport Plus" software mode which dramatically changes the PDK shifting strategy when engaged. I personally find the PDK top be a bit lazy without it.

If it doesn't have SC, you might want to at least test drive a car with Sport Chrono and Sport-Plus mode engaged before deciding.

As for asking price, the lowest I've seen clean 991.2 base cars go for is about $71K with ~40K miles, from a Porsche dealer, without CPO. Same car was $74K with a full CPO 2-year warranty extension.

Around 8,000 miles on my 2017 991.2 C2s. Had a water pump replaced during a routine maintenance check. Also had another coolant leak from the reservoir so the whole thing was replaced. Other than that no issues. There have been some minor recalls done. Coming up on three years in a few months and at this point plan to keep the car long term.

Brilliant car once you master the settings for such as air con not automatically on when you start up, mirrors automatically folding/unfolding when you lock and unlock rather than manual. Even memory seats have to be set up to move automatically on ignotion for easy entry and exit if not done by previous driver or default. Loads of other stuff too which without this forum I'd never have known existed. Reckon everything I wanted on had been switched to off (and vice versa) when I bought it.

No issues with my 2017 C2S after 21 months. Not many miles on mine though...under 2,500. Late (May) 2017 build and I took delivery in June 2017. Car has been rock solid.

I'm keeping an eye on the rear underside periodically to make sure no coolant is leaking from the water pump. I almost expect that to happen at some point but it doesn't worry me too much as it's a known issue and easy fix.

pdk no soort chrono but I was thinking of having the dealer add sport plus to it. Plus I would do a tune on it also.

Bad attitude, why should others help you if you won't even do a minimum of work yourself?

I’m doing a lot of work myself. I just don’t have time to search through forums pages at the moment. Especially since I’m interested in buying it tomorrow
