It's the Porsche Active Safe (PAS) telling you your getting to close to the car ahead of you, during a long traveling time with a car way ahead of you.

I took my rear bumper off to look for this, but I couldn't find the bag.

If the distance when traveling behind another vehicle for a long period is too small to avoid a collision if the vehicle ahead were to brake, the latent warning (yellow icon) appears on the multifunction display to warn the driver.
Increase the distance from the vehicle in front as necessary.

What option is this feature associated with, is there any automatic correction (such as auto braking) that is applied, and can the feature be turned off?

Active safety - Porsche Active Safe (PAS)

The adaptive cruise control sensor is used for the Porsche Active Safe (PAS) functions.

These are:
  1. Prefilling the brake system
Prefilling of the brake system if the radar sensor detects a critical approach to a moving obstacle in order to bridge play and to improve responsiveness.
  2. BrakeAssist
In the event of emergency braking with insufficient pedal force, a brake booster generates the emergency braking pressure needed for maximum deceleration on all 4 wheels.
It reduces the trigger threshold of the brake assist system if the sensor detects a critical approach to a moving obstacle. Depending on the degree of severity of the hazardous situation, the trigger threshold of the brake assist system is reduced in three stages.
  3. Target braking
The brake pressure can be increased appropriately to the situation if the radar sensor simultaneously detects a critical approach to a moving obstacle and insufficient braking force. If necessary, the full force of the brakes is applied.

Information
All Porsche Active Safe (PAS) functions are active for speeds in excess of approx. 20 mph (30 km/h).

Yikes! So if I was in a braking zone and the car decides I should apply “more braking pressure” good luck to any drivers behind me..

No, it's the warning that your friend in his 991.1 can't keep up.

It's telling you to be careful of any 911 painted yellow. Those guys tend to drive flashy.
