Another Nick Murray Lemon?

Nick posted this yesterday. Looks like Porsche will be buying back another lemon.

This dude has unreasonably bad luck with cars lol

Yep. Nick is a huge Porsche fan and he is taking it pretty well. The question is -will he get another Porsche? He surely must be tired of always getting the car towed to Porsche whenever he gets a flat and the constant time his car spends in the repair shop. I personally refuse to own a car that does not have a spare tire, which is why my 1999 911 is the perfect car for me. I hope he gets it all sorted out.

This guy is like a magnet for problems? I mean, I've have had all manner of cars over the years, multiple P-cars included, and never once had something turn into a lemon, let alone twice! Makes for more interesting YT content I guess, so good for him / his viewers???

Ive had all manner of cars and only 1 lemon. a 2010 Cadillac CTSV 6-speed.

Broken welds around the passenger compartment. Man that car could smoke the tires at 70 mph.

Same here. Extremely odd.

How convenient! Hes invented his own Porsche buy back program. Rolls into something new everytime while taking little to no depreciation hit.

SeeForce 02-22-2019 01:50 PM

they dont say, "squeaky wheel gets the grease for no reason..."

ThePhanatic 02-22-2019 01:56 PM

I feel bad for the guy. He loves his 911 and spent so much time like many of us getting it exactly how he wanted. He uses his car year round too and really enjoys the car... total shame.

I hope this doesn't sour him on the brand, but I could see how it would. Wonder if he will do something similar to last time and wait and get something else until the 992 has options he likes.

Porsche should really be making this right somehow. One lemon is bad enough but two? Bad press for them.

fastforddriver 02-22-2019 02:02 PM

I follow him on YT as well and enjoy his posts. Every manufacturer is going to spit out a lemon on occasion but for him to get two in a row is quite astonishing. I saw the latest vid where he mentioned the CAN bus - that and the other assorted electrical issues have to be a bad wiring harness - bad ground on a connection, cracked connector somewhere, something.... just odd. Those are the sort of things that happen when someone taps into the wiring harness for aftermarket reasons or if they try to do a "wire tuck". I don't think he's done that sort of thing so assume just real bad luck.

Crazy bad luck! I don't feel that he will leave the marque. He's way too invested in having great cars for his reviews etc. so maybe they can get him a Carrera T last minute allocation (one model he quite loves).

I agree with him, the 50th is my favorite 991 and seriously considered getting one before taking the plunge and ordering a new 991.2GTS instead (which I dearly love). The 50th is such a fantastic package!

Surprised at all the problems he has had. I have 4,300 miles on mine so far with zero problems so far.

Can someone who’s watched all of NM’s 991.2 videos give me/us the TL;DR on any mods he’s done to it? I recall that his 991.1 had a bunch.

Has he done any to this one?

Definitely a bummer, as the first blue car that launched his YouTube "career" seemed an outlier.

After 29 years of having at a Porsche in the garage, only one of the eight that have been personal cars was anything other than dead reliable and mostly free of issues—and some of these were (thoroughly) used cars when I started my journey with them. And even that 7/8 record doesn't match up with my experience with Porsche in terms of testing hundreds of press cars, privately owned cars, race cars, etc. Even if you throw all of those in, I can probably count the minor issues with the modern cars on 2-3 hands, and the significant problems on 1-2 hands. Across hundreds of cars, pretty good.

I too wonder what Nick will do next. If he can find a T, seems like his kind of car. But no dark blue…

The only mods I can think of off the top of my head are hard-wired radar detector and dash cam. I think he also had laser jammers installed.
