Weird issue - car forgot my garage opener code?
Anyone ever had an issue with their built in homelink system forgetting their garage clicker code? Mine worked fine this morning when I left, car was parked all day at work, and then didn't work when I got home (couldn't open garage door.)
Sort of random and weird. Wondering if this has happened to others?

Happens a few times a year with my 2017. On a given day, it doesn't work, then the next day it's fine again. Took forever to initially program it as well. I bought a standard clicker type remote at Lowes, programmed it to open my door and now keep it in my glove box just in case.

I too have a manual remote on the sun visor and have to use it quite often.

So yeah even stranger was that I took a remote out to the garage to re-program it tonight, figuring it'd "forgotten" the code. But when I hit the homelink button, the garage opened immediately without even needing to do a reprogram. Glitch in the matrix I guess.
Luckily I have a physical key that opens the garage as well and that's always with me.

Someone was close by with a code catcher.

We ran into that issue when we moved a few years ago. The Liftmaster openers proved to be a nightmare with Homelink. Exact issue you mention. Super random. Colossal PITA. Called the installer and asked them to come out and swap the Liftmaster units for Marantecs. Not a single issue since.

I laughed when I saw this thread. I just had this happen a few days ago with my house complex gate. Had to reprogram. This has happened to me 2-3 times over the last 3 years. Another little quirk with these cars with no explanation ha!

I've experienced this (LiftMaster). Sometimes I have to hit the HomeLink button more than 1 or 2 times. Range is not great either, was better before with my old Craftsman, before it died.

I’m the “gatekeeper” for my neighborhood HOA. I do all the programming for our gates, and I’m getting pretty familiar with these issues. We installed a new LiftMaster system in 2016, and it’s great. It’s the newer LiftMaster Security Plus 2.0 standard, and I’ll admit that it sometimes has trouble with Porsche and Audi vehicles, as described above. It’s not often, but it does happen. Another thing to note is that Security Plus 2.0 will not work with transmitters manufactured prior to 2011. As a result, many 997 cars can’t communicate with the newer LiftMaster systems. A converter can be purchased that will receive the signal from older vehicles and convert it into the new standard. I had to to this for my home LiftMaster openers when I owned a 997. My 991 doesn’t have this issue.

Naw, I don't think so. Worked for over a month before using it everyday. And the fact that it randomly started working again. Maybe the car just wasn't in the right position or there was a lot of interference or something at that moment.

When I was programming one opener some years ago, it caught hold of a neighbor's signal as they passed by while pressing their opener button. For ages I wondered why my door would randomly open and close, once it tried to close onto the open tailgate of the car while I was standing there, and that was the moment I figured it out.
