OK, my paranoia and boy scout attitude are showing here. But I can be within 50 miles of home and outside cell coverage. And even further away, I would not count on getting a tow truck response in less than 3 hours, even if I could contact them.
In addition to the spare tire, jack, and lug wrench, I have a handful of tools. Some of these have been in one or more of my cars since 1975.

Many years ago a friend was trapped upside down in her seat belt after her car overturned (she was passenger). Someone had to cut her out of the seat belt.

Good suggestion. I think I'm going to buy one of these for each of my cars. And be sure my kids know it's there and what it's for...
Quart of oil (Porsche sells a bag for $20 that is really nice), the anti-seize for the centerlock. One thing I have been meaning to add is silicone tape. The stuff is amazing. I also really want the Porsche tool kit, but it is $339. I should have bought it when it was on sale for $300.
What is the silicone tape for? Can you please elaborate?
I asked for (and received!) the Porsche tool kit for Father's Day a couple of years ago. It's a really nicely packaged set. I have a woodworking hobby and I'm at a point where I will only buy "investment grade" tools that will likely last me forever (unless it's a unique item that I need for a specific project one time, in which case I'll make an exception). Similarly, the tool kit I expect to just keep forever and move from car to car. The cost of the kit has already been forgotten...
I have a big spares box for my defenders. Basically anything that bolts to the engine or goes in an axle or is anywhere in the fuel or ignition or computer system.
