Where have all the track pads gone?

Apologies if this topic has been addressed before, but I couldn't find it easily when searching the forum. I've recently purchased a 991.1 Carrera and am looking to track it this upcoming Summer. I've been tracking a 986 Boxster the past 6 years, and there are TONS of options for track pads for it - Hawk, Pagid, EBC, PFC, you name it. However, searching the usual sources (Tirerack, Amazon, etc.), I can hardly find a complete set of pads for the 991 in ANY brand. Some places might have a front set, some might have a rear set of a different brand. What gives?

Try Suncoastparts.com ( an online porsche dealer ) or Apex Performance ( an online vendor here).

I’d be happy to help.
i THINK most pads are on our site....but I’m out at the moment and can’t confirm I have them all up there. We carry Pagid, PFC, Hawk and Carbotech.

Last I researched this I believe we only had two options: Pagid RSL29 (yellows) and Ferodo DS1.11. I'm using the Ferodos, can't complain. This is for the S brakes though, I'm not sure if non-S calipers are different.

what I found as well, I use the Pagids and my only complaint is that in town they are squeaky at slow speeds.

Yeah, this is for a 2013 non-S Carrera. I can see the Pagid yellow on Suncoast, but was wondering what else might be available out there, or am I locked in to buying an $850 set of pads? Doesn't anyone else find it weird that pads from, like, Hawk or other manufacturers aren't readily available for the 991??

Things may have change since I last tracked my 991 C2 in 2017, but there were no track pad options besides the Pagid that I found. While the RS29 pads were fine, I found that they were really hard on rotors. I found that the Sebro rotors were just as good as OEM and far less pricey.

If you are planning to track often why not upgrade your brakes? For a few grand you can go with take-off Red Caliper "S" brakes.

Awesome! Love Carbotech track pads. Definitely ordering a set from you. I had a hard time find track pads from the local vendors too!

It's as if the GT3 vacuumed out all of the pad choices Porsche people could count on in the past—even with my GT4, which was a daily, I found choices were either factory (super dusty) or full track. No Hawk pads or something reasonably sporting for the street that cut the dust.

Bob is good people, so if he's got solutions, you'll be in good hands!

^^ Thanks Pete!

pharaohjrb,
The only pad sets available for the base 991 that we carry are from Pagid and Carbotech.
Pagid: PAU8074 Front, PAU4918 rear
Carbotech: CT1389 Front, CT417 rear

Personally...I race with Carbotech now and really like them, but my car is the polar opposite of a 991.

Give me a call when you get a chance and we can discuss your best options.

We have stock of both Pagid RS29 and RST3 for the front 8074 pad shape and RS19 and RS29 for the rear 4918 pad shape. The 8074 pad shape is VERY popular.
