Will 991 prices drop when 992 launches?
With the 992 launching this summer, does it stand to reason that prices for the 991 will drop? I'm looking to pick up a 991.1 S but was thinking about waiting until the summer. Thoughts?

My SA, who works at one the largest volume dealers in FL, told me that he had more requests for 991.2s than 992s albeit demand for both has been high. Regarding a 991.1, cars with good builds will hold their value better than others but if you want a Cab or Targa now is a better time to buy than waiting. Otherwise, it depends on several factors but these are not collector cars so if you find one you like buy it.

Oh, believe me, I'm itching to pull the trigger on my first Porsche! But, I have a hard (as in my wife will leave me) budget of $60k and I'm hoping to get as low a mileage 991.1 S as possible!

Yes, all 991 models (non-GT) will depreciate for years to come. It's the natural way of things. All you have to do is be patient until prices come to your price point.

One one hand, depreciation is your friend.
One the other, 991.1 is the last non turbo and for some that'll always be worth something...
Also design features - 997s remain high because to some they are prettier/smaller. Might be that, for some, the 992's butt looks like a Cylon and they prefer the 991 design. Who knows... They will go down but it's hard to judge the bottom of the curve. I'm guessing $50K. (especially now that any modern decent regular car is 45K, they might not go too far down)

The 991 is the last 911 that doesn't look goofy with the clamshell, the Eclipse back end, the bacon strips, the videogame screens and the gravedigger rims,.so I think it will depreciate less than previous generations.

But the 991 shape was and is perfect. Such a thing of beauty!

The 992 is priced higher and the 991 remains very desirable right up through the end of the run. I think it will continue in its depreciation curve but there won't be a sudden drop off. The 992 is really more like the 991.3 in a lot of ways.

My dealer has had a lot of people looking for low mileage 991.1 models, due to the fact that it’s the last of the NA engines. Hard to tell how the market will go.

My dealer GSM told me he’s actually had more requests for 991.2 allocations since the 992 was introduced!

Depends on how much you want an ugly cup holder in the console. No comment necessary on the shifter.
I panicked and ordered another 991.2, especially when I found out no MT for months.

I can’t believe how much hate for the 992. I personally love it. The front bumper i don’t care for, but the rear looks great. The interior is awesome. The PDK shifter is finally normal looking. I like it lol
