Is PASM too harsh for Daily driving ?
hey guys,
I'm eyeing a 991.2 2017 with low miles, it seems it's equipped with PASM but no PDCC. I'm in my forties and I would like a 911 but considering the terrible roads we
have up here in Montreal and this will be a car I want to drive often, do you think it will be too harsh?
Thanks
Ian

Depends on your tolerance. It’s not harsh at all, especially considering it’s a sports car. Now if you set sport suspension on you will not enjoy it on the roads but I don’t know anybody that does that except at the track.
For context I have a 991.2 GTS with SPASM which is 10mm lower than pasm. Drive it daily in Alberta with absolutely no complaints on the ride. It’s actually better than my IS350 with f-sport springs.

I'm 40 and if I can drive my 991.2 on Arkansas roads you can drive a 991.2 on Montreal roads!
Heck, I drive my X73 981 Boxster GTS on Arkansas roads with little issue.
The biggest factor is making sure you have the tire pressures set to the proper partial load comfort settings (29/31 for a 991.2 Carrera on 20" wheels).

Drive mine daily in Chicagoland. No complaints. As others have said, it depends on your tolerance/what you're used to.
Does my wife's Jeep ride softer/better? Yup.
Does the 911 feel softer/better than my Cayman on X73? Yup.

You can always buy the DSC Sport module. I just installed mine two weeks ago before a Porsche Drive & Lunch and then last weekend two DE days at Sebring. The DSC makes a big difference in either setting.

Also, consider the 18-way seats. They are glorious.
Last summer we took a 4,000 mile road trip in the BGTS. We did 12 and 15 hour drives there and back. Not one second of discomfort with the 18-way seats. They are heavenly.
We might make the same trip this year in the 911. I don't expect the 14-ways seats to offer the same experience.

Im always driving in the sport setting which I understand doesn’t enable to stiff sport (sport plus) suspension.

I keep it on comfort, pretty smooth. Put tire pressures at comfort level, that helps. I also have 19s on currently, so that also helps. 20s will probably make the ride a little bumpier, but don't expect anything too crazy.
Very comfortable car.
