My First Impressions, Driving my C4S Home
I drove home today from PEC Atlanta, about 504 miles, almost exclusively interstate (unavoidable) and I made the following observations.
1. One must be careful, or one will find oneself at 100 mph without trying. I kept shifting between 6th and 7th and on/off throttle, to vary the RPMs, no cruise control, no A/C until the last hour or so.
2. WAZE is a MUST, identified enforcement zones with distance to spare. Maybe a Uniden R3 in the future.
3. 7 gears manual could have been covered by 6, did average 26 mpg and 73 MPH, so missions accomplished, Porsche.
4. Apple CarPlay, nice and handy, respond to text messages hands free (PEC Atlanta folks gave a spare iPhone connector, nice perk).
5. Bose system is good enough for me, a lot of tire noise in the car, expected from tire characteristics and crappy road surfaces. Any sound system would struggle against that.
6. On "Sport", oil and water temperatures were only a few degrees apart, in the 190s. Standard mode showed oil temps up to 230, water remained 190s.
7. 911 would be surprisingly quiet If you eliminated tire noise.
8. I had too much tire pressure. Filled in cold weather, had 49 PSI rear as temps rose, will re-calibrate tomorrow.
9. Drivers yielded the fast lane, way more than I have experienced in a long time. Maybe respect for the marque? Didn't even flash lights or come close to prompt the reaction.
10. Did go over a few 100 RPMS above 4k a handful of times, once to 6k, merging through semis. The engine does want to spin right up. Note to self, exercise restraint.
Of note, my Driving Experience coach, Matt, was a gem.
One of the first things he said was here's your chance to do things in the company Porsche that you wouldn't do in your car and off we went and did exactly that.

Also why an all wheel drive car being 500 miles from Atlanta? I've always liked a 4S even being in the South...real world traction particularly when my miles are in the city with all sorts of crappy roads.

Once you reset your tire psi to comfort setting your tires will quiet down.
Who in the world pumped them up to 49 psi should be whipped.

I'm glad you are enjoying it! I remember that feeling 1.5 years ago.
I don't know what car you are coming from but I don't find the 991.2 quiet at all. I'm coming from an E90 M3, which I still drive. The engine noise from the 991.2 in normal mode is louder than my M3!
