Default Forum Help - 2018 911 Targa 4 GTS Wheel Size for All-Seasons

Seeking the right answer before I make a huge investment in aftermarket wheels.
I have the 305 30 R 20 on 12 inch rear wheels.
There are no all-season tire options available (I'm not going to push a 295 tire on a 12 inch rim).
I would rather drop down to a wheel size that accommodates the Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4 N-Spec 295 30 R 20.
So my question is - what is the correct rim size and offset? I've seen several different responses in my research - so I am looking for a definitive answer - if you can help.
Thanks!

For the 295, Michelin recommends a max 11" wheel. Tire Rack does as well, presumably following the advice from the tire manufacturer. However, I had a conversation with a Tire Rack representative who told me that as long as you use Porsche OEM spec tires, you can use the 295 on 11.5" wheels. I also did the same research here that you're doing and several people have put 295 Michelin winter tire on the 11.5" wheels. At least one person here mentioned stretching the 295s onto 12" wheels. Given that 11.5 is already pushing things, I wouldn't risk going to 12" personally.

I ordered my GTS with Carrera S wheels (11.5"). Car is due to arrive in March. Based on the above info, I already ordered the Michelin winter tires in 295 and 245 and they're sitting in my basement. They will be going on the stock wheels as my permanent winter setup.

Not yet sure what offset I'm going to spec for the aftermarket summer wheels yet. It depends on what width wheel I go with. I will make heavy use of https://www.willtheyfit.com/ and also the recommendations of whichever wheel manufacturer or re-seller I go with. Any offset calculations I've done will be useless to you since the CL wheel offsets will be different than 5-lug wheels.

I have the 295 Pirelli Sottozeros on my stock 17 Targa GTS centerlock wheels. I am pretty sure they are 12” wide. There is no issue performance wise. The lip of barrel is more exposed than with 305s, but not too bad. Just dont hit big potholes and would be fine. If you dont care to spend the money on more narrow set and have crappy roads around you then i would get a more narrow set.

That's what I need to know - if I get 20" x 11" rims and use 295/30R20's on the rear - what is the OFFSET I need? Since these will be custom made centerlocks - I only have 1 shot at getting this right.

If I were in that situation, I would call BC Forged at 386–872-3544 and ask for Jonathon. They will figure out offsets and make a set for you. I am sure other wheel companies can do the same. I juat know BC Forged can as I have had 2 sets of wheels made for different cars by them and they were perfect fits.

Porsche recommends that 295 on 20" wheel. My car came with 305s and they installed factory recommended 295 Pilot Alpins.
