Water Spots on my 14
 

Hi Everyone, has anyone used this product on their paint to remove water spots? I just got it yesterday and tested it on my windshield and rear window and it does work using a microfiber applicator with moderate pressure followed by a cleanup up with detailer and a soft polish cloth to remove the streaks, so I'm happy with that and would really like to tackle the hood, roof and tail but wanted to see if anyone else has some experience to share. It will work. You shouldn't have to rub too hard.

I live in Phoenix where water is hard as hell. I have used the Meguire's for years, solid products. The cleaner wax works good as well.

Chemical guys makes a pre-dry spray that works good to prevent the water spots also. As you probably know the best way to prevent water spots is preferably use soft water, which is not always available, and to dry your vehicle quickly. I still have a hard time with water spots on the windshield for some reason.

I'd recommend more research before you use that on your car. Go search some threads in our Concours Forum and cross-post this thread there.

Less is best. I think you are starting too aggressively. You may end up there in the end, but I feel you should be more conservative in the early stages.

Lastly, you need to solve your hard water issue and use a better drying method, like a Master Blaster. Lastly, you need a better coating, one that repels the incurrence of water spots.

Thanks Lex for the tip on the Concours forum, never looked there. No mention of my specific product but like you said I'll post it there too. I bought the car this way so now am trying to correct things like this, I agree with you on being careful and I think that's why I tried it on the glass first. R.

I recommend wiping down with alcohol , clay prior to using any spot remover products.

That product is garbage on Guards red, maybe great on other paints.

I had horrible water spots due to a leaky parking garage roof. I used chemical guys V36, V38 and fine polish to get rid of them. Please keep in mind that paint "behaves" different on each panel, maybe it is because of the aluminum. I don't know.

Ok, good to know. My car is Amaranth Red so maybe it'll behave the same, we'll see. By the way, I didn't mention this but I'm doing everything by hand, I don't have the knowledge or experience to handle polishers. R.

buy a dual action polisher from harbor freight @50 and practice on your daily driver , the results will amaze you . doing it by hand is worthless IMO

Nope, don't trust myself... I'm guessing worst case is I'll find a good detailer here in the Tampa Bay area, my front and rear glass look better though. I'll drive it sometime tomorrow for the true test and get my lady's opinions too...!

Ive used auto paint guard for years, reeves, almost every dealer in the area use them on all their new cars. They do paint correction, films. Presidential has just opened the new shop next to them. Go show them your car and get their opinions

While we are on this subject, what do you guys in the know recommend for a blower to blow the water off the paint when washing?
