Steering wheel cover

You’re gonna kill me... but my hands are drying out and slipping on the wheel. Short of spending $1000 at Suncoast for an Alcantara wheel, are there any good options to give my hands a bit more grip?

yes - I’m old. Old people loose moisture in their skin.

Don’t worry my friend, I’m somewhat young and have pretty dry skin. Maybe use a good lotion to keep your hands moisturized, but then the oils may leave stains on your steering wheel, or just leave a pair of driving gloves in your car and put them on when you get in. Just my thoughts.

I like Aveeno. No fragrance. It has colloidal oatmeal. And Jennifer told me to use it. Can't beat that.

I always wear either my track day gloves or another glove like the K1 kart glove. You don't need SFI rating for daily driving but the Tech 1ZX are the most comfortable gloves, driving or casual, that I've ever worn. I'd be wearing them right now if I could manage to type in them. Now that I've experienced exterior stitching, I'm never going back to interior stitching again.

I thought you were asking about this. I gave this away to a Rennlister a few years ago. I forgot who won it?? He likes it to protect his carbon fiber wheel when parked in the sun.

Is that a Porsche shower cap? Nice touch when showering at the beach.
Get the gloves, you'll be happier with the look and they add15 HP.

Penn4S, I found my old post from 2 years ago. TorqueChap was the lucky winner of my give-away:

Wal-Mart sells steering wheel covers that don't look too bad and they fit well; I have one that I put on when taking the car in for service but you may like it enough to use it all the time. And if the ones at Wal-Mart are not up to snuff for you try any auto parts store for better options.

If you like the feel of Alcantara, Dallas SteeringWheel can recover your’s for under $400! It is very nice. If you want a mark/stripe at 12 o’clock he can do that, or deviated stitching. Here’s my 2007 Cayman S track car wheel from Mr. Le. I really like it! Hope this helps.

I'd go the driving gloves route. I'm 34 and suffer from eczema... try Mother of All Creams by puriya

What about a tape? I was imagining wrapping it, kind of like wrapping handlebars in a bicycle.

Thanks for all all of the ideas.

That looks nice! Do you have to remove the steering wheel for them to work on or is it on an exchange basis?
