Hello!

So after browsing the forums and listings for a few months, I found a Porsche that I am interested in! This is going to be my first Porsche so I would appreciate your opinions on this car.
It stretches by budget a little bit but it looks like a good value, especially in terms of miles and numbers of years driven.

Car is 5 years old but has been owned for 3 (looks like it spent a lot of time at dealers between owners) with only ~18k miles on it.

Now my only concern is that this car had 3 owners, would that be an indication of a problematic car? Anything else I should be concerned about?

3 owners could be an indication of a problem, or it may not be. My suggestion would be to get a pre purchase inspection done by a shop not involved in the deal.

Agreed regarding the number of owners.

Price is good for an S but does it have everything you want? Is it worth stretching the budget if it doesn't? Many people who go second hand do so because you can get a car with many options and features for way less than new. Stripper cars tend to sit for this reason.

Since this is your 1st Porsche I would suggest you wheel and deal for an extended warranty or look for one with some CPO warranty left.

My current 911.1 C4S is the 1st Porsche for me as well and I've had so much fun driving 91K worry free miles because of the CPO warranty.

Just a thought.

Thanks everyone for their input! I don't want to rush into this so maybe I will hold off on this one then. (Will still go check it out this weekend as it's only 45 minutes from me, maybe I can negotiate the price down enough)
I am not very picky for the options although PSE would have been nice (but can install that afterwards).

Unfortunately a CPO car is outside my budget range. I was aiming at ~$60k for a 991.1 C2 or C2S (maybe cabriolet).

Say if those three owners each got this as entry level, and after a year or so thought "man, this is so good I'm going in for an upgrade" and traded up. I know I would have.
No chance of CPO from an Infiniti dealer btw.

Since it's your first foray into Porsche did you look into operating costs?

If a CPO car is out of your range what's going to happen if you need to repair it? These are very reliable cars but I wouldn't want to repair a PDK transmission on my dime. Regardless - you'll need to maintain it. Since you're at the edge of your budget are you preparing to perform your own maintenance? Otherwise, it's a $500 oil change - probably $300 at an independent. PDK service? Around $1K. Did you get an insurance quote?

I'm totally not trying to talk you out of it rather just preparing you.

I personally don't care about the number of owners but rather the condition of the car. Just get a thorough PPI and see if a dealer can pull the warranty repair history of the car, even if you have to pay a little bit of money. Seems like a lot of car for the money IMO.

Thanks for your input and yes I have looked into all that and am aware of the operating cost. Insurance will be about the same price than my current BMW for the same coverage.

You can always buy a vehicle service contract, Fidelity Platinum is one many Porsche dealers like and many of us have it. For a car with those miles, 3/36 will probably be in the 3-4k range, I just paid $4100 for my '13, but I had 41k miles on it. The do offer longer terms.

For me, the three owner thing wouldn't mean anything. Heck seems like the GT cars get passed around like a blunt at a DMB concert.
